Important Updates
- The team at Grinding Gear Games has apologized for the prolonged wait times players are experiencing when submitting support tickets.
- As a response to community feedback, Grinding Gear Games is actively rolling out hotfixes and updates to enhance Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2, developed by Grinding Gear Games, is currently in early access, having launched on December 6, 2024. The game quickly attracted a massive player base, which unfortunately led to various server issues and a surge in support requests.
While an influx of over half a million players could be seen as a dream for any developer, it posed immediate challenges for Grinding Gear Games. In the initial 48 hours post-launch, significant server access troubles arose, compelling the development team to spring into action. They efficiently addressed problems such as key redemption glitches and lengthy server login queues, while simultaneously engaging with both player feedback and internal assessments regarding technical and gameplay balance concerns. Numerous hotfixes and updates have been released in an effort to improve player experience.
Despite these efforts, Grinding Gear Games acknowledged on the Path of Exile 2 forums that support response times have been longer than usual due to the influx of player feedback since the game’s release. The developer noted, “We’ve had a massive amount of players logging into Path of Exile 2 since launch, which has been amazing to see! Unfortunately, such a huge influx of players also generates an enormous amount of support requests.” To mitigate the issues, the studio is in the process of hiring additional staff dedicated to support services and has requested that players refrain from sending multiple emails about their support tickets to avoid overwhelming the system further.
Developer Committed to Addressing Player Feedback
Grinding Gear Games has also identified various technical limitations within their support system, responding by enhancing the capacity of their tools to manage the flood of emails more effectively. This dedication to improvement has extended beyond technical support to the core gameplay experience as well. For instance, the game’s loot drop mechanics have already been adjusted, alongside improvements to dodge rolls, checkpoint placements, currency usage, and additional gameplay elements based on player feedback.
As media outlets continue to delve into Path of Exile 2, it is likely that further essential feedback will emerge. Given the developer’s proactive approach and willingness to adapt based on player input, we anticipate that the game will undergo significant changes before its official release. Streamlining the logistical and technical aspects of support will be crucial in implementing these changes, fostering an environment for a successful launch of the fully completed title.
