In Path of Exile 2, there are numerous side quests that may seem trivial but play a crucial role in player progression. One such quest is “Finding the Forge,”situated in Act 1, which enables you to recycle unwanted items effectively.
This quest is just one component of the broader campaign that players will encounter. However, it does require a significant detour from the main objectives, making it more time-consuming than other missions.
Locating Renly’s Tools
The hunt for Renly’s Tools begins in Ogham Village. Due to the game’s procedurally generated map layouts, identifying the exact location of the tools can be challenging. Fortunately, players can find a checkpoint nearby, which serves as a useful reference point while navigating through the ravaged village.
To embark on this quest, fast travel to the Ogham Village waypoint. Choose one side of the village and stick close to its wall while exploring. Eventually, you’ll come across a narrow passage nestled between two dilapidated huts. As previously mentioned, a checkpoint should be located right before this passage. Enter the area, defeat any lurking enemies, and you will find Renly’s Tools on a table. Bring these tools back to Renly in Clearfell Encampment to complete the quest.
The path leading to Renly’s Workshop usually spawns southeast of the Ogham Village waypoint but can also appear in the northwest. Players have observed that the workshop often emerges on the opposite side of the Executioner boss’ arena. Therefore, if you’ve already scouted the boss’s location, consider checking the other section of the map.
Rewards for Completing the Quest
By successfully finding Renly’s Tools, players unlock access to the Salvage Bench. This essential tool allows for the dismantling of items equipped with Rune Sockets or enhanced Quality. Breaking down these items rewards players with Artificer Shards or upgrade materials such as Blacksmith’s Whetstones and Armorer Scraps. This feature enables you to effectively utilize any redundant Socketed or Superior items discovered during your journey, providing a pathway to enhance your current gear.
To clarify, item quality enhances the fundamental attributes of equipment by a small percentage, making this an advantageous strategy to improve stats without the need to grind for new gear. However, upgrading items does require specific currency items unique to Path of Exile 2.
- Blacksmith’s Whetstone (for martial weapons such as hammers and quarterstaves)
- Arcanist’s Etcher (for magical weapons including staves, wands, and sceptres)
- Armorer’s Scraps (for armor pieces)
- Glassblower’s Bauble (for flasks)
Players can obtain these currency items by farming bosses like Rathbreaker in Act 2, with potential drops also coming from regular enemies.
