In the world of Path of Exile 2, Support Gems play a critical role in enhancing your Skill Gems by adding powerful effects and capabilities. Once players acquire their first Uncut Support Gem, they unlock the Gemcutting menu where they can craft a variety of potent Support Gems to augment their skills.
However, after obtaining the initial Support Gem from a quest in Act 1, many players encounter challenges in finding additional ones. Essentially, there are two primary methods for players to acquire more Support Gems: completing various Quests that reward Uncut Support Gems and defeating Rare and Boss enemies which may drop these gems as loot.
How to Acquire More Support Gems in Path of Exile 2
Farming Rare and Boss Enemies Across All Acts
To maximize the chances of obtaining Support Gems, Path of Exile 2 players should engage in farming Rare enemies and named Bosses. By consuming an Uncut Support Gem and visiting the Gemcutting menu, players can craft the Support Gems they desire.
Rare enemies are marked with yellow names and possess heightened strength compared to regular and Magic foes. These foes not only provide a greater chance to drop valuable items such as Rare equipment and currency but also Skill and Support Gems. While players can farm regular enemies for a very slim chance at Support Gems, focusing on Rare threats significantly increases the odds of obtaining these coveted items.
Throughout the campaign, players will encounter named Bosses during main story quests and side missions. Typically found in designated Boss arenas that can be accessed from Checkpoints, these formidable enemies have large health pools and are essential for farming high-tier items.
To facilitate farming, players can shift-click on a specific location to create a new instance of that map, allowing for a fresh layout, respawns of Bosses, and random Rares. This technique is particularly effective in later Acts, where players can expect better drops, including high-tier currencies and Support Gems, from repeated runs.
Complete Quests and Side Quests for Additional Support Gems
In addition to farming, completing quests remains a consistent method for acquiring Support Gems in Path of Exile 2. Players will encounter several quests throughout the game that reward Uncut Support Gems upon completion. The very first gem typically comes from a quest in Act 1, but numerous other quests offer similar rewards.
When accepting a main or side quest, players should pay close attention to the NPC’s dialogue window. Under the NPC’s portrait, the “Accept Quest”dialogue will reveal reward previews, indicating if an Uncut Support Gem is a potential reward upon quest completion.
Additionally, players can monitor their active quests by opening the World Map and reviewing the Quest Log on the right side of the screen, where all active quest rewards, including Uncut Support Gems, are displayed.
Utilizing both farming strategies and completing quests will help players build a robust collection of Support Gems, enhancing their gameplay experience in Path of Exile 2.
