10 Chambers has unveiled a thrilling update on Den of Wolves, a highly anticipated sci-fi heist game, with fresh gameplay footage shared during the 2024 iteration of The Game Awards. This reveal follows over a year after the game’s original announcement at the previously mentioned event.

Founded in 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden, 10 Chambers was created by Ulf Andersson, renowned for his work on the first two Payday installments. The studio made its debut in 2021 with the cooperative horror shooter GTFO. In a stunning announcement in December 2023, 10 Chambers introduced audiences to Den of Wolves, presenting it as their next venture into gaming.

At The Game Awards 2024, the excitement surrounding Den of Wolves heightened as the developers showcased a 90-second trailer, setting the stage in Midway City—a corporate utopia situated in the Pacific Ocean. The trailer’s narrator paints this vibrant cyberpunk landscape as a “land of opportunity,”emphasizing the potential for wealth—or peril—for players. As the sequence transitions, the trailer escalates into frenetic action, highlighting exhilarating shootouts, environmental chaos, and daring escapes.

Music in the Trailer Reflects Game Themes

The intense action in the trailer is underscored by a remixed version of “Takeover,”an electrifying EDM track by Northern California artist ECKA featuring British vocalist Nat James. The choice of this high-energy song is likely a perfect match for the chaotic tone of the gameplay. The lyrics resonate profoundly with the game’s overarching themes of rebellion and resistance. “Stand my ground when I stare them down and they can’t control us, burn up the system right, let the people rise for the real takeover,”Nat James passionately sings. This sentiment suggests players will engage in system-shattering activities such as sabotage and assassination throughout Den of Wolves.

No Official Release Date Yet for Den of Wolves

The trailer concludes with the intriguing tagline, “early access 202…,”leaving fans speculating about the release timeline. In a follow-up statement, Robin Björkell, the Communications Director at 10 Chambers, indicated that Den of Wolves will enter Steam Early Access once it is fully prepared for launch. “The enigmatic release date in the trailer pays tribute to classic FPS games where developers prioritized readiness over deadlines,”Björkell elaborated.

Currently, Den of Wolves is exclusively confirmed for PC. Given that 10 Chambers’ inaugural title, GTFO, has not expanded to other platforms, it is plausible that Den of Wolves will also remain a PC exclusive following its release.
