Petition Launched by Dead by Daylight Fans to Save the Mobile Game

Overview

  • A petition initiated by a dedicated fan aims to save Dead by Daylight Mobile, amassing over 3,000 signatures.
  • Since its launch, Dead by Daylight Mobile has seen considerable success, achieving millions of downloads by its first anniversary.
  • Behaviour Interactive is incentivizing mobile users to transition to the PC or console versions of the game.

Following the announcement of its impending closure, a committed player has taken action to keep Dead by Daylight Mobile alive. Behaviour Interactive and NetEase Games revealed plans to shut down the mobile version in 2025, prompting fan Alexander Azarov to start an online petition. His effort has gained traction among the gaming community, although it remains uncertain if this grassroots campaign will influence the publisher’s final decision.

In late December 2024, NetEase announced that Dead by Daylight Mobile would be ceasing operations in early 2025, citing a shift in strategic direction. Although players will still have access to the game on mobile devices until March 20, the option to download it will lapse on January 15. Consequently, potential new players and those needing to reinstall the app will miss their chance sooner than others as the game is removed from the App Store and Google Play.

This announcement left long-time player Alexander Azarov disheartened. An avid player for the past two years, he expressed the emotional connections he formed within the game community. Azarov launched a Change.org petition four weeks ago to rally support, emphasizing the mobile version’s significance in providing an inclusive gaming experience. “The mobile version allowed everyone, regardless of financial means, to engage as either a survivor or a killer within this captivating horror world,” he noted.

Many fans are bewildered by the closure decision, given the sustained popularity of Dead by Daylight among horror aficionados. Initially launched in limited regions in April 2020, the game achieved impressive milestones, garnering its millionth download within just 48 hours. By its first anniversary, downloads had soared to over 17 million. Recent analytics from Similarweb indicate the app recorded approximately 75,000 downloads in October 2024 alone, reflecting a notable upward trend.

As mobile users prepare for the transition, Behaviour Interactive is taking proactive steps to encourage players to migrate to the PC and console versions of Dead by Daylight. They are offering a welcome package that includes at least 500,000 Blood Points and 2,250 Iridescent Shards for any mobile user who links their app account to their Behaviour Interactive profile. This incentive is also available to existing players on PC or console, aimed at easing the shift and retaining player engagement.
