Spoilers for The Infinity Watch #1! Marvel’s legendary Avengers maintain their reputation as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, continually juggling the demands of high-stakes heroics and multiversal threats. Amidst their relentless battles, they occasionally find time to unwind. Notably, the Avengers once sought solace in their famed headquarters, Avengers Tower, and now their familiar ally Phil Coulson is leading a fresh superhero team called Infinity Watch, complete with an impressive new base that rivals their own.
Originally introduced as Stark Tower in 2005, which evolved into Avengers Tower with the team’s relocation in New Avengers #3, this iconic structure has served as the nexus of the Avengers’ operations before and during the Civil War saga, even stepping in as a temporary refuge after the destruction of Avengers Mansion.
In the highly anticipated first issue of The Infinity Watch, it’s revealed that Phil Coulson’s new team, enhanced by the power of the Infinity Stones, has literally conjured a base out of thin air using the Reality Stone, elevating their headquarters far beyond the confines of Avengers Tower.
A Revolutionary Island Base for Coulson’s Infinity Watch
The Infinity Watch #1 – 2024 (Derek Landy and Ruairí Coleman)
From the very first page of this issue, readers are introduced to Infinity Watch’s stunning headquarters, creatively summoned by Star, a member imbued with the powers of the Reality Stone. The impressive design of this new sanctuary was crafted by Overtime, who wields the Time Stone. Nestled “Somewhere in the vast Pacific Ocean, far from human habitation,” this extraordinary superhero base resembles a luxurious resort, complete with an island setting that includes well-stocked amenities, a helipad, a rooftop dining area, and even a stylish infinity logo table.
Contrasting sharply with the bustling urban setting of Avengers Tower in New York City, the Infinity Watch’s unnamed base is strategically placed in isolation. However, thanks to Quantum’s mastery of the Space Stone, the team can teleport to and from their new haven easily. Although only briefly featured in the comic, showcasing the base’s exterior and a single room, it’s clear that Coulson’s team will frequently utilize this innovative hideout. There’s great potential for incorporating advanced security measures akin to those found in Avengers Tower.
The Future of the Infinity Watch Headquarters: A Reality Stone Creation
As Infinity Watch continues to grow, its members are poised to personalize their headquarters further using their own Infinity Stone powers. Before long, this facility could surpass even the legendary Avengers Tower, alongside other notable locations like Avengers Mountain and the Avengers Compound. This evolution is especially evocative as Marvel fans recall seeing the transformation of Stark Tower on the big screen within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s conceivable that the aesthetics of the live-action Avengers Tower will inspire the design of Infinity Watch’s new home, all while the Avengers themselves are expected to upgrade their headquarters in the near future.
The Infinity Watch #1 is now available from Marvel Comics.
