The much-anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was released last week, and as expected, the action-adventure game has garnered significant acclaim from both critics and gamers. While it may not reach the high praise typically associated with its fully 3D open-world Zelda counterparts, early sales data for this title is beginning to surface.
According to Christopher Dring from GamesIndustry on Twitter, the weekly data for physical software sales in the UK provided by the GSD reveals that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom debuted as the second-highest selling game in the UK last week, with EA Sports FC 25 taking the lead. It’s important to note that these figures reflect only physical sales.
Dring noted that the physical launch sales for the new Zelda title in the UK are 14 percent lower than those of 2019’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake, which was the last top-down Zelda title released by Nintendo. However, he suggests that when digital sales are included, the sales performance of these two games may ultimately be much closer than the initial figures indicate.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom debuts at No.2 in the UK physical charts this week (Nintendo doesn’t share digital data, sadly). Launch sales are 14% lower than 2019’s Link’s Awakening remake. I suspect in reality it’s pretty close sales-wise between the two.
