Preparation Guide for Pokemon GO Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day

Research Days in Pokémon GO are infrequent and special events, setting them apart from the more common Community Days and Raid Days. During these Research Days, players can find unique research tasks within their missions tab, and by completing them, they gain access to rare Pokémon.

The upcoming Pokémon GO Research Day will highlight Yamask and its Galarian counterpart. This event is scheduled to start on October 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.

During this Research Day, both Yamask and Galarian Yamask will be the spotlight Pokémon. Trainers can collect special tasks by spinning PokéStops, with successful completion leading to encounters with either Yamask or Galarian Yamask, depending on the task type.

In line with previous Research Days, both types of Yamask will exhibit increased chances of appearing as Shiny Pokémon. While the precise rate is not confirmed, players can reasonably expect a shiny encounter rate similar to that in Community Days, approximately 1-in-25.

Additionally, trainers have the option to buy a premium Research Ticket for $2 (or its equivalent in local currency). This ticket unlocks further Timed Research tasks, enhancing the chances of encountering Yamask and Galarian Yamask. However, it’s crucial to complete these timed tasks promptly to avoid missing out.

While Yamask and Galarian Yamask are the primary attractions for this Pokémon GO Research Day, trainers can also expect increased spawn rates for the following wild Pokémon:

Cube
Zigzagoon
Galarian Zigzagoon
Duskull
Shieldon

Though these Pokémon may not be particularly rare, Cubone and Shieldon are worth your attention. Their evolved forms, Marowak and Bastiodon, are strong competitors in Great League battles, making it beneficial to capture them for candy accumulation.

It’s advisable to stock up on Incense, Lure Modules, and a variety of Poké Balls to efficiently navigate the Research Day. Most of these resources can be acquired by visiting PokéStops, but they can also be purchased using PokéCoins from the in-game shop.

Since both featured Pokémon can appear in their Shiny forms, having a good supply of Lure Modules will be advantageous for capturing them, whether for Battle League participation or simply enhancing your collection. Utilizing Lure Modules will facilitate easier completion of Research Tasks, making them essential for this event.

Finally, an ample supply of Poké Balls is crucial to catch all encountered Pokémon. For encounters with higher CP or noteworthy IVs, consider bringing Great Balls or Ultra Balls for better capture chances.
