“Nobody Wants This” is a delightful romantic comedy series on Netflix that has every woman wishing they were in Kristen Bell’s shoes as Joanne, who finds a supportive partner in Adam Brody’s charming Rabbi Noah Roklov. Created by Erin Foster, the show is an insightful exploration of healthy, emotionally mature relationships. The inaugural season consists of ten episodes, and though there’s a second season on the horizon, the standout moments are definitely those where Joanne and Noah express their feelings openly rather than engaging in petty games.
Alternatively, some of the show’s most enjoyable scenes feature their “loser siblings,” Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simons), who share a surprisingly captivating chemistry. We’ve taken a moment to evaluate the episodes from the first season of “Nobody Wants This,” ranking them from least favorite to most favorite!
10. Episode 9: “My Girl Bina”
This episode had its humorous moments, particularly with Tovah Feldshuh as Bina Roklov, Noah’s mother, who was hilarious. However, the abundance of overused Jewish stereotypes diminished its overall appeal compared to the show’s deeper episodes. I found it hard to believe Joanne wouldn’t know about prosciutto—I’m vegetarian and I certainly do!
9. Episode 8: “Rebecca’s Box”
Episode 8 presents a captivating challenge to the characters’ beliefs. Noah’s desire to share the Jewish custom of Havdalah with Joanne, hoping she might convert, brings a dilemma of love versus duty to be the Head Rabbi. Meanwhile, Morgan tries to uncover secrets about Noah by covertly chatting with his ex, Rebecca (Emily Arlook), leading to tension between the sisters as Joanne’s curiosity about Rebecca threatens her relationship with Noah. Although this episode had its share of drama, it seemed to lack the depth found in others.
8. Episode 3: “Either Aura”
The third episode begins on a whimsical note, with Joanne reminiscing about a kiss with Noah that she describes as “making her pregnant,” only to find him at her door after contemplating their relationship. While the conversations she shares with her friends are entertaining, the surrounding drama involving Rebecca and the Roklov family felt less engaging!
7. Episode 10: “Bat Mitzvah Crashers”
The season finale of “Nobody Wants This” left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied. While it was an uplifting moment when Noah chose Joanne, the underlying issues weren’t resolved. However, the events prior were memorable—from Joanne and Morgan’s entrance to the Bat Mitzvah with Soulja Boy to the electric chemistry between Morgan and Sasha, the exchange between Esther (Jackie Tohn) and her daughter, and Noah’s exceptional rabbi skills, all contributed to a compelling and heart-wrenching conclusion.
6. Episode 7: “WAGS”
Despite their roles as antagonists to Joanne and Noah’s romance, the episode “WAGS,” featuring the girls drinking and playfully teasing their partners during a basketball game, was an absolute riot! It fostered camaraderie and made me wish I could join their fun-loving group. This episode was significant in portraying Morgan and Esther as relatable characters rather than mere villains.
5. Episode 4: “Obliterated”
In this episode, we see Noah guiding Joanne in choosing a sex toy on their first date, making for a humorous yet somewhat clichéd situation. However, the real highlight is Sasha’s efforts to help his daughter Miriam avoid embarrassment with her crush. Timothy Simons delivers a fantastic comedic performance, and the dynamic between him, Miriam, and his assertive wife Esther is delightful. Even though fans might be shipping Sasha with Morgan, I prefer his chemistry with Esther!
4. Episode 5: “My Friend Joanne”
Noah’s grand gestures truly shine in this episode, where he surprises Joanne by bringing her to a Jewish camp while trying to keep their relationship under wraps. His efforts culminate in a heartwarming moment at the end. The humorous exchanges between Joanne and the teenage girls were particularly entertaining, reminding us all of how we often seek validation from the younger generation as they impart valuable lessons about respect.
3. Episode 2: “A teacher walks into a temple”
This episode features a memorable moment—The Kiss! It kicks off humorously with Joanne, Morgan, Noah, and Sasha heading to a bar after leaving Noah’s temple, only for their plans to be interrupted by an unexpected appearance from Esther. Despite their picturesque meet-cute, this date is anything but smooth. But when Noah insists on kissing Joanne while commanding her to put her ice cream down? It had us all cheering!
2. Episode 1: “Pilot”
The pilot episode introduces viewers to Joanne and Noah with finesse. It successfully captivates the audience right from the start. Their charming introduction at a mutual friend’s gathering instead of through a clichéd dating app is refreshing and enjoyable for millennials and younger viewers alike. The witty banter shared between them exemplifies the perfect chemistry that serves as a case study in excellent writing!

As expected, “The Ick” emerges as the standout episode. We’ve all faced that jarring experience in relationships when the initial allure fades. However, the charming Noah reassures, “I can handle you,” turning a potentially relationship-ending moment into one of growth. Those four words are significant for women, symbolizing the freedom to express ourselves without fearing the worst. This episode masterfully balances humor and emotional depth, showcasing Noah as the ultimate green flag!
