Ray J recently expressed his thoughts on Diddy’s arrest that occurred on September 16, 2024. Diddy faces serious charges, including s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. After being taken to court the next day, his bail was denied.
During his appearance on the talk show Cuomo on September 20, Ray J emphasized the importance of acknowledging the mistakes of those we look up to. He reiterated that in light of the current situation, there is no need to “tear anybody down.”Ray praised Diddy’s significant influence on the music industry, stating:
“Diddy’s been an icon for decades. We’ve all listened to his music. We’ve all been around him, at least in my era, and have looked up to him. And this situation is super unfortunate, but it’s important to learn a lesson right now and ensure the next generation understands how to move differently with transparency and integrity.”
Ray J explained why many celebrities have chosen to remain silent about the case, noting that the allegations have shocked the community. He called for unity during this difficult time, which could pave the way for a brighter future.
In addition, the One Wish singer refuted claims regarding the organization of the purported ‘Freak-Offs,’ which were alleged s*x events referenced in the grand jury indictment. These purported activities were said to take place in hotel rooms, but Ray J maintained he had never attended such gatherings. He commented on the public’s reaction to the legal issues:
“To see where we are now, I think everybody is still trying to digest it and still trying to understand it. And even though they’re still allegations and it’s not anything that’s factual yet, it’s harmful and it’s confusing to a lot of people.”
Ray J Discusses Diddy’s Legal Troubles on Previous Occasions
Diddy has been embroiled in controversy following a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who accused him of physical assault and s*exual abuse.
Additionally, Diddy is facing numerous legal troubles, including multiple civil lawsuits concerning allegations of s*exual assault and s*x trafficking. In April of this year, Ray J spoke out about the accusations in an interview with TMZ, stating:
“I think a lot of people are just trying to understand it. Understand what is and what’s not, ya know? It’s still a big question mark. Pray for everybody, though. Prayers go up for everybody.”
Furthermore, during the same discussion, Ray J reiterated that he had no knowledge of the allegedly organized s*x events dubbed “Freak Offs.”Evidence for these acts was purportedly gathered during raids conducted at Diddy’s residences in March 2024.
In another interview with The Art of Dialogue in May 2024, Ray J shared his thoughts regarding the allegations against Diddy, saying:
“When somebody is around somebody and we’re counting on them to be one of our leaders in a space that we’re all trying to get to, that’s not acceptable to do and it’s not OK.”
Ray J’s latest album, Raydemption, was released in 2022, and he has also been a part of the reality show Love & Hip Hop: Miami.
