Reasons Behind the Delay of Big Brother Tonight: An In-Depth Look

Big Brother 26 experienced a delay for its 28th episode, which was broadcast on September 15, 2024. This CBS original series has been captivating audiences for over two decades, hosted by Julie Chen Moonves. The show features ‘houseguests’ who live under constant surveillance, cut off from the outside world.

Scheduling delays are common for the show, particularly due to sporting events. In Season 26, Big Brother typically airs on Sundays at 9 PM EDT, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 PM EDT on CBS.

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the episode’s schedule was adjusted due to an NFL game that was set to air on CBS from 4:00-7:30 PM EDT.

As a result, Episode 28 aired half an hour later than usual, premiering at 9:30 PM EDT, 8:30 PM CT, and 9 PM PT.

What transpired in Episode 28 of Big Brother 26?

In Episode 28 of Big Brother 26, which aired on Thursday, September 12, Quinn Martin was the eighth houseguest to be evicted, leaving by a vote of 4-2. Quinn was the first evicted contestant to join the Jury house, greeted by Jerry O’Connell in place of Julie Chen Moonves, who was on hiatus after testing positive for COVID-19.

Julie Chen Moonves returned for the Week 9 episode on September 15. This week kicked off with a competition designed to test the endurance of the houseguests, who were introduced to their temporary AI companion, Jankie.

The backyard of the house was transformed into ‘Jankie World‘, a carnival-like setting complete with games, treats, a dance floor, and more, where the houseguests were required to spend the entire week.

During the HoH competition, contestants were challenged to balance a giant marshmallow against a hot pad using a stick for as long as they could. T’Kor was the first to drop their marshmallow after 28 minutes, and soon others began to fall out as well. Ultimately, Angela, Cam, and Leah remained as the last three competitors. Angela opted out of the challenge since she had previously held the HoH title.

After nearly 10 hours, Cam decided to give up, feeling exhausted. Leah emerged victorious, becoming the new Head of Household for Week 9 of Big Brother.

Following the endurance challenge, which lasted throughout most of the night, Leah was eager to have one-on-one discussions with all the houseguests to strategize for her reign.

In a conversation with Cam, Leah expressed her feelings of being excluded from the group and shared her relief at winning the competition. She began to contemplate who she would nominate for eviction.

Leah ultimately decided to place Kimo and Rubina on the chopping block for the upcoming week. She acknowledged that choosing nominees was challenging with so few contestants remaining, but felt that the trio of Kimo, Rubina, and T’Kor posed a significant threat in the game and needed to be broken up.

Big Brother Season 26 continues to air every Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday on CBS and Paramount+.
