Rick Ross and Trick Trick have had a protracted dispute, which reportedly traces back to Trick Trick preventing Ross from performing at the 2014 Summer Jamz concert organized by Hot 107.5 in Detroit. However, the two artists have recently settled their differences during a concert.
The duo performed together at the Out Community First Action event for Michael ‘Harry-O’ Harris, on September 17, 2024, in Pontiac. Ross was seen performing the track “I’m Not A Star,”which was initially released in 2010.
During his speech to the crowd, Ross expressed gratitude for Harry-O’s contributions to Community First and acknowledged those who are “making a difference in the community.”He then addressed his longstanding feud with Trick Trick, stating:
“You flying me out last night, you having Trick Trick bring me out on stage. I’m sure everybody knows me and Trick Trick had our differences for over a decade, and here we are just moving forward, doing big things in the community.”
Notably, the artists were seen embracing each other before Ross kicked off his performance of “I’m Not A Star.”Trick Trick has cultivated a significant fanbase through albums like The Villain and Outlaw, in addition to numerous mixtape releases throughout his career.
What caused the rift between Rick Ross and Trick Trick at the Summer Jamz 2014?
The tension erupted during the Summer Jamz concert on June 21, 2014, at the Chene Park Amphitheater in Detroit, where a large crowd had gathered outside waiting for Ross.
The Hustlin’ rapper later recounted his experience on Twitter, posting a blurred image alongside the caption:
“Luv #Detroit I wuz ready to killm 2nite, heard it wuz a peace protest wit picket signs and locked gates haa.”
In a press briefing, the venue claimed that Rick Ross was thwarted by the crowd outside. While Trick Trick did not publicly address the matter, his manager, Arthur Alston, gave an interview to MLive stating that his client was responsible for hindering Ross’ entry into the venue.
Alston also mentioned that Trick Trick views Detroit as a “No Fly Zone”for individuals who do not support local artists. This statement alluded to the rapper’s single of the same name, which contains the lyrics:
“I’m just a phone call away / Come in without permission / I don’t wanna hear sh*t you got to say.”
Trick Trick declined to comment on his dispute with Rick Ross
Despite Ross asserting that a crowd impeded his access to the venue, Detroit Police stated they had received no reports of any crowd or disturbances at the time.
Nevertheless, Trick Trick chose not to disclose further details regarding his issues with Rick Ross, posting a video on YouTube. The video included a message laden with profanity, stating:
“Concerning myself and that individual, it’s none of your motherf**king business. That’s a grown man; I’m a grown man. Grown men don’t put grown men business out to the motherf**king public!”
While both artists have resolved their differences, they have yet to announce any collaborative projects.
