Rumor: Venom 3 Conclusion Has Parallels with Avengers: Infinity War

Essential Insights

  • Venom 3 may follow a narrative style similar to Avengers: Infinity War, potentially leaving fans with lingering questions.
  • This installment could wrap up with a cliffhanger, hinting at spinoffs connected to Spider-Man 4.
  • Regardless of whether Venom 3 is Hardy’s final performance, there are still opportunities for crossovers with Spider-Man.

Venom: The Last Dance is widely viewed as Tom Hardy’s concluding performance as Eddie Brock. Nonetheless, a reliable insider has indicated that the finale of this Spider-Man Universe film might resemble the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War rather than providing a straightforward closure.

Promoted as the grand finale of a trilogy launched with the initial film and continued in Let There Be Carnage, Venom: The Last Dance has Hardy expressing gratitude to Sony Pictures in an Instagram post, reaffirming this film as his swan song as Eddie Brock. However, speculation suggests that fans may be left with unresolved plot points.

A Twitter user posed a query to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez regarding whether Venom 3 would clearly indicate that the narrative continues into Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. While Perez refrained from confirming this outright, he hinted that the film could end with an unresolved cliffhanger, drawing a parallel to the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. “…Consider how Infinity War would have felt if it ended with no resolution and then Feige announced, ‘Alright folks! That’s a wrap on Marvel Studios! This is our final movie!’ Think about that,”tweeted Perez.

The conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War showcased Thanos collecting all six Infinity Stones and using them to erase half of the universe’s population. In its final scenes, the surviving Avengers dealt with the realization of their defeat while Thanos reflected on his success in solitude. Perez does not claim that Venom 3 will have a similarly monumental ending in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe; rather, he suggests that at least one plot thread in Venom 3 would remain unfulfilled without further exploration.

It’s important to note that while a cliffhanger in Venom 3 doesn’t guarantee Hardy’s return as Eddie Brock for future projects, there are possibilities. Director Kelly Marcel hinted at the character Krull, who will feature in the film, as someone whose role could be expanded into future stories. With limited projects under Sony’s Spider-Man Universe banner, Venom 3 may set the stage for more character spinoffs.

Conversely, even if Venom 3 stands as Hardy’s last portrayal of Eddie Brock, he might still appear alongside other characters. Hardy has affirmed that Venom 3 is his conclusive performance but has shown enthusiasm for the idea of a Venom and Spider-Man crossover. Unless Spider-Man features prominently in Venom 3, it seems Hardy is open to reprising the symbiote role for a showdown with the web-slinger. The potential for this eagerly anticipated crossover will soon be revealed.

Venom: The Last Dance is scheduled for theatrical release on October 25, 2024.
