SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7 Recap: Does Jason Rejoin Bravo Team in Honduras?

SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7 Recap: Does Jason Rejoin Bravo Team in Honduras?

SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7, titled “Mission Creep,” premiered on Paramount+ on September 15, 2024. This latest episode puts the Bravo Team’s personal dramas in the spotlight, complicating their already perilous mission.

In the previous episode, the Bravo Team undertook a mission in Cambodia, but Master Chief Jason Hayes, their Bravo 1, was absent. Ray also wasn’t on the ground, leaving Sonny, Omar, Drew, and Trent to manage, which didn’t result in a seamless operation. The team had to adapt to a new dynamic and a potential new leader.

Following their successful retrieval of Jun Yilin in Thailand, the Command received intel regarding tagged barrels of fentanyl precursor mentioned in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 3. They geared up for a joint SOCOM-CIA operation in Honduras aimed at uncovering the Chinese-Nazario connection. However, unresolved issues from the past loom over the Bravo Team as they brace for this new endeavor.

Bravo Welcomes Jason Hayes Back for the Honduras Mission

Jason Hayes, played by David Boreanaz, significantly affected Bravo during their mission in Cambodia while he was absent, as seen in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 6. Ray felt it was his duty to protect the team, yet Jason was busy negotiating for Yilin’s extradition, leading him to feel he had let Bravo down.

Meanwhile, the other members of Bravo struggled with a new dynamic during a snatch-and-grab mission that turned into an ambush. Jason grappled with personal issues revolving around his son Mikey’s surgery and subsequent overdose back in the States.

In the current episode, the Bravo SEAL Team reunites on U.S. soil after a successful mission transporting Jun Yilin to Thailand and the DEA. As they await their next mission, Jason’s past begins to haunt him. His traumatic brain injury (TBI) surfaces, compounded by concerns over Mikey’s overdose. He even recalls a prior mission where he took his first kill.

A significant portion of the episode delves into Jason’s battle with his TBI, where he holds himself accountable for Mikey’s overdose and seeks out the individual who supplied the harmful drug. At one point, he clashes with Mandy over his inability to balance his work and family life, feeling his identity is more tied to Bravo than to being a father.

His struggle continues when Commander Blackburn and Captain Walch present him with a new position overseeing the TBI project he cares deeply about. Despite previously advocating for this cause, Jason shows reluctance, asserting that “carrying a rifle”is how he makes a significant impact.

Ultimately, Jason opts to return to Bravo for their upcoming mission in La Ceiba, Honduras. Although the episode is titled “Mission Creep,”it lacks substantial action. However, Bravo engages in multiple missions aimed at gathering crucial evidence connecting the Chinese to Ramon Nazario, a former colonel of the Honduran Special Forces.

After several operations yield no results, their final operation in Episode 7 culminates in them discovering cash hidden away in wooden walls after Jason, in frustration, strikes them with his rifle. Ultimately, they succeed by incinerating the cash and installing two hidden cameras along with a cellphone sniffer to monitor the area.

What Caused Drew’s Delay Prior to Bravo’s Flight to Honduras?

Shortly before the Bravo Team departs for Honduras in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7, Sonny and Omar deliberated over who should inform Jason about Drew’s absence. Sonny suggests that Omar, aiming to become the 2IC, should deliver the news; however, Omar feels that since Jason associates Sonny with disappointment, he should step up.

They ultimately decide that Sonny will inform Jason, while Omar will lead the way during their forthcoming operation. Just as Sonny prepares to share the unsettling news about Drew, he unexpectedly shows up.

Before that, Sonny and Omar visited Drew at his “house on wheels,”where they found him indulging in alcohol. Omar noticed painkillers on the table, indicating that the new Bravo 6 was struggling with something. They offered Drew advice to help him navigate his situation, with Omar revealing his own past experience with loss.

Sonny and Omar confronted Drew about self-sabotaging behavior and removing himself from the team to avoid being abandoned, similar to what happened with Echo in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 5. The effectiveness of their tough love remains uncertain, but Drew ultimately made it to the Bravo Team’s flight to Honduras.

Did Ray and Sonny Have a Confrontation Over Ben in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7?

One of the most gripping moments in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7 wasn’t a high-octane mission, but rather a reunion between Ray, Sonny, and Ben at Spencer House.

Throughout Season 7 of SEAL Team, Ray has been unable to move past Clay’s death. While the loss affected the entire Bravo team, Ray’s connection to Clay’s legacy remains strong through Spencer House. Clay had once saved Ben from taking his own life in Season 6, but a misunderstanding led to Clay being fatally shot.

While Sonny understands the accident that befell Clay, Ray still struggles with his resentment towards Ben for his connection to that tragedy. In Episode 7, when Sonny brings Ben to Spencer House for help, Ray reacts angrily, asserting that Ben should “know better”than to return.

Although Ray and Sonny don’t engage in a full-blown fight over Ben’s situation, Sonny remains upset with Ray’s behavior and the way he drove the other veteran away. Nonetheless, the pair manages to talk during their flight to Honduras, where Ray apologizes for his outburst against Ben. Sonny reassures him that he is allowed to falter and will have ample chances to assist others like Ben.
