- Season 3 has begun airing on MGM+, adding to the series’ tension and unsettling events.
From grips viewers with its chilling narrative and heart-stopping encounters, regularly putting its characters in peril from terrifying creatures each night. One of the standout moments this season is a poignant scene involving Tabitha, portrayed by Catalina Sandino Moreno, who is also slated to appear in the upcoming John Wick spinoff, Ballerina. Interestingly, this heart-wrenching moment was not initially included in the show’s script.
The new season of From is currently captivating audiences on the rebranded MGM+, with its premiere on September 22, 2024. This acclaimed sci-fi series manages to keep viewers engaged, steering clear of the issues that plague many long-running TV shows. As Season 3 progresses deeper into its terrifying plot, fans are treated to compelling insights into Tabitha’s emotional journey, particularly a devastating phone call to her mother.
During a candid interview with Screen Rant, Moreno shared her experiences regarding a significant scene where Tabitha reaches out to her mother. Following a tumultuous end to Season 2, where Tabitha enters a lighthouse portal and later finds herself in a hospital in Camden, Maine, she grapples with confusion over her escape. Ultimately, she calls her mother to reveal she’s alive, though this raw emotional exchange was never intended to be captured on screen, a moment that could rival some of the most touching scenes seen in Disney films.
“That phone call was not written. Initially, there was a plan for Tabitha to call her mother, but we weren’t meant to witness the call,” Moreno explained. “I told John, ‘Listen, in good times or bad, I call my mom first. Whether I’m happy, sad, or somewhere in between, she’s always my first call.’”
In this season’s third episode, Tabitha encounters Victor’s father, Henry. Initially skeptical of her tale, they embark on a journey to the original “Faraway Tree,”only to be met with a catastrophic car accident before arriving. Moreno humorously noted her wish that Tabitha could have awakened in a sunny tropical location instead of soggy Maine. She also expressed her appreciation for Robert Joy, who plays Henry, highlighting how his seasoned and calming presence adds depth to the show, especially since many characters are quite young.
From has drawn comparisons to iconic series like Lost and Netflix’s Midnight Mass, particularly due to its unsettling monsters that form the backbone of its narrative. As Season 3 continues to unravel the central mystery with shocking revelations and gruesome encounters, it is well on its way to solidifying its status as one of the most exceptional sci-fi series to date.
