Senator Bernie Sanders, a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights, has formally endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
In a recent video on his official YouTube channel, Sanders reiterated his critical stance on Israel’s actions. He emphasized that while Israel holds the right to defend itself post-October 7th, waging war against the Palestinian population is unjustifiable. Furthermore, he condemned Israel’s bombardment of civilian infrastructures such as residences, hospitals, and educational institutions, accusing the nation of exacerbating hunger by obstructing humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
Sanders went on to highlight that Donald Trump represents a severe threat to the well-being of Palestinians. He stated, “In this context, Trump and his right-wing allies pose even greater risks.” He recalled how Republican leaders made concerted efforts to prevent humanitarian support for children in Gaza, while also mentioning Trump’s admiration for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Additionally, Sanders referenced Trump’s remark deeming the Gaza Strip as “excellent beachfront property” for development opportunities. Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, notably echoed this sentiment about Gaza’s potential value. Kushner also held the role of a senior foreign policy advisor during Trump’s presidency.
As the election approaches, Sanders expressed his willingness to collaborate with Harris post-election, believing she presents a better opportunity to reform U.S. policy regarding Netanyahu than Trump does. He assured that once in office, their efforts would focus on significantly altering U.S. relations with Israel. This stance remains consistent, as Sanders has previously denounced the U.S. Congress’s invitation extended to Netanyahu.
The Significance of Gaza Alongside American Welfare
I’ve traveled extensively across the country this past month. A recurring question I encounter is: “I disagree with Kamala’s stance on the Gaza conflict. How can I support her?” Here’s my response: pic.twitter.com/r4fzWz8yXF

Sanders emphasized that the issue is not black-and-white, highlighting other crucial matters at stake. Should Trump secure victory, Sanders warned of potential threats to women’s bodily autonomy and a regression in climate action, emphasizing Trump’s disbelief in climate change. For those troubled by wealth disparity, Sanders reminded them of Trump’s probable inclination to implement further tax cuts favoring the wealthy. Meanwhile, the working class continues to endure what Sanders terms “starvation wages.”
Both JD Vance and Donald Trump have campaigned vigorously against abortion rights. Trump has also publicly maintained that climate change is a fabrication, with many of his devoted supporters believing that Democrats can indeed “control” the weather. Trump proposed eliminating personal income tax, replacing it with high tariffs on foreign goods. This would disproportionately impact low- and middle-income families, as consumer prices could rise significantly. Therefore, a Trump presidency poses risks not only for Palestinians but also for the American populace at large.
