Shyne Barrow, the Leader of the Opposition in Belize, recently addressed Diddy’s arrest during an interview with Belizean media on Wednesday, September 18. When inquiries about the rapper’s arrest arose, the former Bad Boy Records artist recounted the 1999 nightclub shooting that led to his 10-year prison sentence.
Following a shooting incident at a nightclub, Shyne was arrested. According to Billboard, he was sentenced after it was determined that he had shot and injured two individuals during an altercation with Diddy.
Discussing the rapper’s involvement in the shooting, he stated:
“This is someone who in essence testified against me when I was on trial, as an 18-year-old just trying to make my mother proud and bring pride to Belize. I was defending him, yet he called witnesses to testify against me, almost ensuring my incarceration.”
Shyne Barrow Claims Diddy “Destroyed” His Life
During his press conference, Shyne Barrow addressed Diddy’s arrest and the subsequent allegations, emphasizing that he has distanced himself from the hip-hop mogul, claiming their relationship was strictly professional.
He added:
“This is someone who destroyed my life. I have forgiven him and moved on, focusing on the betterment of Belize, as he had the means at that time to support scholarships and potential investments.”
Shyne further indicated that he had been set up following Diddy’s shooting of an individual in 1999, which he alleged framed him for the crime. He referenced the December 1999 nightclub shooting in New York City that involved himself, Diddy, and Diddy’s then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.
In June 2001, Shyne was found guilty of assault and received a 10-year prison sentence. Ultimately, he was released in 2009 and returned to Belize.
During the recent interview, when a reporter inquired about Shyne’s knowledge of Diddy’s notorious “freak off”parties, he responded:
“I had nothing to do with Sean Combs’ personal life. There was no interaction at that level. Everything was strictly professional.”
The reporter’s question pertained to the drug and s*x-filled parties hosted by Diddy. Barrow continued:
“Let’s not lose sight of the cold, hard facts. This is not someone I vacationed with or shared an intimate brotherhood. I cannot deny my attempts to encourage investment and educational contributions to Belize.”
