Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Expresses Regret: “I Wish I Had Done That More Often”

The Sister Wives season 19 premiered exclusively on TLC on September 15, 2024. Prior to the launch of the first episode, Kody Brown expressed his sorrow over not spending adequate time with his family, particularly with his son, Garrison, who tragically passed away in March 2024. Kody revealed that in the wake of Garrison’s death, he has been concentrating on healing and making a conscious effort to spend more quality time with his loved ones to prevent similar regrets in the future.

In an interview with People Magazine on September 15, 2024, the Sister Wives star also reflected on his divorce. He emphasized his desire for his children to achieve happiness post-marriage and to live with “joy and enjoyment.”

Kody reminisced about his son Garrison, conveying regret for not taking more opportunities to bond with him. He emphasized that he wished he could have shared more moments like having a beer or dinner together.

“The only regret is just, take advantage of the time. I want to go out to dinner again. I want to sit down. I want to have a beer. I want [Garrison] to try and make me laugh because he was that way. The only regret is just, gosh, I would just do that more often,”Kody stated.

Before the highly anticipated premiere of season 19 of Sister Wives, Kody Brown shared how his outlook shifted following his son Garrison’s passing. He noted several adjustments he has made since Garrison’s tragic suicide, including placing a higher priority on spending time with family. Kody recognized that life is unpredictable, emphasizing that one cannot always predict when they will see someone for the last time.

Kody recounted a recent trip he took with his brothers, revealing he “almost didn’t do it.”However, he felt a strong urge to connect with them. He conveyed that he is determined to avoid future regrets, which is why he has been more willing to say yes to plans.

“Your life is filled with those moments. There were other things that were pressing, and I just said to myself, ‘What if this is the last time?’”he shared.

He also articulated the profound realization that not everyone will be around forever, stating that this understanding has deepened his appreciation for life’s small moments. Kody highlighted that this realization has motivated him to spend more quality time with his children.

Currently, the reality TV star is committed to focusing on “healing”and progressing while remaining attentive to his actions. Kody acknowledged that while there would “always be a moment”he wishes he had taken a step, he feels he is on the path to healing and aims to have fewer regrets moving forward.

“There will always be the moment you said, ‘I wish I would’ve taken advantage,’ and there’s the regret. But see, that’s all over now and everybody’s healing. And so now we can move forward, and we can just take those steps that create less regret,” Brown stated.

Kody Brown also discussed the challenges and emotional turmoil surrounding his divorce from his wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine. He expressed sadness over the tumultuous ending of those relationships, describing the situation as having become angry and complicated.
