Snoop Dogg Discusses His Role as a Grandfather: “Papa Snoop, That’s Who I Am”

Snoop Dogg is widely regarded as one of the most versatile artists in the music industry. Snoop Dogg is the proud father of four children—Corde, Cordell, Julian, and Cori—and is happily married to his long-term partner, Shante Broadus.

As a doting grandfather, Snoop enjoys the company of seven grandchildren. In a recent interview with People magazine, released on September 12, 2024, he expressed that fatherhood and grandparenthood rank among the blessings he cherishes the most in life.

During the conversation, he revealed that he often dresses up as various characters for his grandchildren’s birthday celebrations. He enthusiastically stated:

“Papa Snoop, that’s who I am, and I love being that. I be dressing up for their birthday parties, like He-Man, Baby Shark or whoever. I be complaining, but I love it.”He continued, “I love being a grandpa. It’s an accomplishment.”

From Corde, Snoop has grandchildren named Zion, Elleven Love, and Sky Love. He also experienced the loss of his grandson, Kai Love, who tragically passed away ten days after birth.

Additionally, Snoop’s other grandkids, through his second son, Cordell Broadus, include Cordoba Journey, Chateau, and a baby girl whose name is not publicly disclosed. He maintains a strong presence in his grandkids’ lives, often taking them to events and participating in children-focused campaigns alongside them.

On July 27, 2024, Snoop shared an adorable behind-the-scenes photo with his granddaughter during his time at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he was pictured tying her shoelaces.

During a guest appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show in January 2024, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot”rapper explained how he acquired the nickname Papa Snoop:

“Zion was the first one to name me. He used to call me Papa Noop because he couldn’t say Snoop, so he started calling me Papa Noop. Then as time went by, he learned how to say Snoop, so now I’m Papa Snoop.”

Snoop Dogg, in conversation with People magazine on June 15, 2023, shared his affection for the title, noting it reminded him of his grandfather. He remarked:

“That s— means the world to me for them to call me that because I had a papa. My grandpa was my best friend and for me to be that for my grandkids is showing that I actually did well.”

He elaborated on how his grandchildren represent a significant part of his life, indicating that each grandchild holds a piece of his heart.
