On her podcast, Drama Queens, aired on September 19, Bush provided key updates on the project that fans have been long anticipating.
Despite the excitement, Bush advised that the project is still in the developmental phase, and no definitive announcements can be issued at this time.
“If it happens, I will be so freaking proud… that every single person gets to bring their expertise to the table now,”
Bush expressed during the podcast, showcasing her enthusiasm for the potential reboot.

In the episode, Sophia Bush, renowned for her role as Brooke Davis in the beloved WB series for all nine seasons, engaged with fans alongside her co-host, Robert Buckley.
They shared fresh insights into the status of the reboot, which PEOPLE previously confirmed is still in the early development stages.
“What I can say is that after, God, close to half a decade of these conversations, we’ve been able to all sort of divide and conquer in the coolest way. And those of us with TV producing experience are having some really exciting conversations,”
“It’s been in development for some time. I think that’s all I can say,”
she continued. Sophia Bush’s insights imply that although the reboot has been in discussion for nearly five years, the development has faced considerable delays, with many challenges yet to be addressed before it can become a reality.
Bush also credited One Tree Hill fans for motivating the reboot concept, emphasizing their enduring enthusiasm that has significantly influenced the discussions:
“The experiences we’ve had with the fans who’ve continually asked the coolest questions and made us think about, you know, where our whole ragtag gang of humans would be at this point [is what] has prompted the ideas.”

“I think that’s all I can say on this podcast, but I do hope we have exciting updates, and I hope we get great news, and we have a big announcement.”
Despite the optimistic discussions, Sophia Bush revealed her disappointment regarding how the news of the reboot was initially disclosed, mentioning that details had leaked before an official confirmation was made.
“Do I wish that the news hadn’t leaked before we could announce it was official? Sure. But if it happens, I will be so freaking proud,”
Sophia Bush emphasized that the most exciting facet of the potential reboot is the wealth of talent involved, both in front of and behind the camera.
“Amongst the show’s alums are TV and film producers, music producers, and novel writers,”
“There’s so much talent in this special group of circus performers that we are, and I don’t know… If everything works out, it’ll just be so great. We got a big bench now.”
Her co-host, Robert Buckley, who joined One Tree Hill in season seven as Clay Evans, echoed her sentiments about the impressive alumni talent.
“The roster is deep,”
he stated. “I was actually thinking about that this morning. I was just going. You have a murder’s row of people you can bring in here. Like, there’s just heavy hitters from start to finish.”
Buckley expressed his optimism regarding the reboot, despite the early leak of the news, which he termed “a disservice to the fans.”He acknowledged that such a leak might lead to disappointment if the reboot fails to materialize, yet he remains hopeful:
“If I was a betting man, I would say it’s gonna happen,”
“Well, and I’m hoping it happens. Fingers crossed. But knowing it’s y’all, I think it’s gonna happen.”
