Controversy Surrounds Park Sung Hoon’s NSFW Parody Incident
The director and showrunner of Squid Game, Hwang Dong Hyuk, has publicly addressed the recent controversy involving actor Park Sung Hoon and an inappropriate parody associated with the hit series.
Park, who portrays a transgender woman in the show’s latest season, found himself at the center of a scandal after he claimed that a pornographic parody of the show’s promotional poster was uploaded to his Instagram account by accident. However, he later admitted that he had fabricated this story. Instead, he asserted that he actually intended to send the image privately to his manager.
In an interview with Xport News, Hwang expressed his dismay and confusion regarding Park’s actions. He stated, “As far as I know, something like that came out overseas in Season 1. Whenever a popular work gains notoriety, similar incidents tend to occur. It’s disheartening and undermines the integrity of the original work.”
Hwang added, “I haven’t yet spoken to Sung Hoon about this issue. I believe someone forwarded the post to him, but I remain unsure how it actually was uploaded to his social media. Personally, I am also curious to understand how he could have made such an error.”
The controversial post, which initially surfaced on December 30, was promptly removed. Following the incident, Park’s agency released a statement suggesting that the actor had mistakenly pressed the wrong button while navigating the numerous DMs he had received, leading to the unintended upload.
The agency remarked, “The actor was caught off guard by the situation and is currently reflecting on it. We are committed to ensuring that a similar incident does not occur in the future.”
“It seems that Park Sung-hoon accidentally pressed the wrong button while checking the many DMs he received, and it ended up on his story,”said the agency in an initial statement.
This incident raises pertinent questions about the ownership and management of social media accounts, particularly for public figures. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, celebrities must exercise greater caution to maintain their public image and the integrity of their work.
As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how this will impact Park Sung Hoon’s career and his relationship with the Squid Game franchise. Fans and industry observers are keeping a close watch on subsequent developments.
