In the Hot on the Trail mission of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, as Skif approaches the Waste Processing Station (WPS), he encounters a chilling radio transmission from survivors inside. Upon entering the facility, players discover Jumper and Bluish, the station’s last survivors. Jumper reveals a monstrous presence controlling the facility, having taken hold of his companion, Bluish.
Jumper requests Skif’s assistance in eliminating the creature in exchange for a stash code. To confront this threat, Skif must first obtain a key from a worker named North, who is stranded atop the WPS roof. This quest initiates the Shift Change side quest, where players must retrieve the crucial WPS key to access the lower levels of the Waste Processing Station and ultimately face the monster lurking within.
How to Locate the WPS Roof Key from North in Shift Change
Step 1: Reaching the Warehouse
Begin your journey by exiting the initial room and crossing the bridge into the WPS compound. Navigate through the first building and proceed around the right side of the second structure. Keep to the left wall until you reach a door that a zombified soldier will force open. Take decisive action by shooting the zombie in the head before entering the warehouse.
Step 2: Ascending to the WPS Roof
Upon entering the warehouse, locate the stairs leading to an upper platform. After climbing, you’ll encounter a deceased body on a railing. There is a nearby ledge you can jump from onto a central container within the warehouse.
Use this container as a stepping stone to reach the opposite side, then ascend to the upper platform and climb the ladder leading to the WPS roof.
Step 3: Retrieving the Key from North’s Body
Once you make it to the roof, head toward the edge where you’ll find a chair sheltering under a makeshift metal canopy. Carefully position yourself on the ledge and peer down at the pipes below to find North’s lifeless body.
Execute a careful jump down to the central pipe and loot North’s corpse to obtain the WPS roof key. With this key in hand, you can now proceed with the “Shift Change”side quest or continue advancing the “Hot on the Trail”main quest simultaneously.
