Star Wars Re-establishes the Fastest Alien in the Galaxy as Canon

The latest installment of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew marks a significant moment in the franchise’s history, showcasing the beloved Teek species in live-action for the first time in nearly four decades. This revelation follows the rich legacy of Star Wars storytelling that expanded the galaxy far, far away, after the 1983 release of Return of the Jedi. Over the years, the Star Wars universe has flourished through various mediums, including Marvel’s comic adaptations, animated series like Star Wars: Droids, and the live-action movies featuring the Ewoks. These explorations provided deeper insights into the lore of Endor, notably by introducing new cultures and species, and the first-ever live-action representation of the Nightsister Witch from Dathomir.

In Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, the narrative centers on Wickett the Ewok and a young human girl named Cindel Towani as they navigate threats from Sanyassan marauders and the Nightsister Charal. Their adventure leads them to form alliances with the human Noah Briqualon and the swift Teek, a creature whose name reflects his species. Although the events of this film and other 1980s Star Wars properties belong to the Legends continuity—rendered non-canon after 2014—Teek and his kin have continued to make appearances in contemporary Star Wars content.

The Teek Is The Fastest Alien We’ve Ever Seen On Screen…

A Teek ferryman in Star Wars Skeleton Crew

In the second episode of Skeleton Crew, titled “Way, Way Out Past the Barrier,”viewers are treated to a delightful surprise: a Teek appears in a brief yet memorable role as a ferryman on Port Borgo. This Teek showcases the remarkable agility associated with his species, sprinting away after being paid, moving so swiftly that he becomes a blur—an homage to the comedic antics shown in The Battle for Endor.

Throughout the Legends continuity, we learn that Endor is a land riddled with dangers, home to formidable creatures such as boar-wolves, condor dragons, and the terrifying Gorax. Given the perils found on the Forest Moon, it is intriguing to note that species like the Ewoks and Teeks possess extraordinary physical capabilities that far exceed those of humans. Ewoks exhibit impressive strength, while Teeks are renowned for their incredible speed.

Interestingly, the traps used by the Ewoks against the Imperial forces in Return of the Jedi are repurposed from Gorax traps, further illustrating the resourcefulness of the Ewoks in the face of danger.

The Teek Set Records In Star Wars Legends Too

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Teek is celebrated as the fastest sapient creature in the galaxy. This claim is underscored by the character Yeep, a Teek who participated in the illustrious Mobquet Presents: Fastest Land Beings race in 22 BBY, decisively outpacing all other entrants. Both the traditional Legends and the recently updated Skeleton Crew highlight the unmatched speed of Teeks, with no other species observed in the universe who can compete at such velocities without the aid of the Force.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew releases new episodes every Tuesday on Disney+, continuing to captivate audiences with its fresh narratives and character introductions.
