Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 3
The Star Wars franchise has delighted fans with a clever Easter egg from the beloved Star Tours attraction in the latest episode of Skeleton Crew. This reference, however, is merely one example among many that pay homage to the cherished Disneyland ride and its companion attraction, Captain EO—the iconic 3D short film featuring Michael Jackson, produced by George Lucas. While the premiere unmistakably nods to both attractions, episode 3 includes additional hidden gems that are much more subtle yet equally thrilling.
In a recent promotional video released by Star Wars, sound designer David W. Collins revealed an intriguing tidbit. The bus chime heard as students disembark in the premiere episode mirrors the classic chime played while queuing for Star Tours, the first of the Star Wars-themed attractions at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, which predates the opening of Galaxy’s Edge by more than three decades:

This connects seamlessly with the RX-series pilot droid featured in the premiere, the very same entity that once piloted the Starpeeder-3000 for Star Tours before being succeeded by C-3PO and the updated Starspeeder-1000 in 2011. Furthermore, episode 2 introduces Fuzzball, a small alien who famously perched on Michael Jackson’s shoulder during Captain EO. However, it is the third episode that unveils an even more captivating array of references to both the classic Star Tours ride and Captain EO.
Skeleton Crew’s Disneyland Easter Eggs Extend Beyond the Premiere
Combining Star Tours and Captain EO: The At Attin Insignia
Combine two unknown Old Republic emblems and magic happens. by u/emcee_you in StarWars
Reddit user u/emcee_you brilliantly observed a clever homage in Skeleton Crew that simultaneously references both Star Tours and Captain EO. The At Attin insignia found on Fern’s backpack is ingeniously used by the owl-like astronomer Khy’mm, who breaks apart the symbol to assist her in locating a mysterious planet. This design appears to merge the iconic swooping arcs of the Star Tours logo with Captain EO’s triangle, creating a unique emblem of the Old Republic.
While Lucasfilm has yet to officially confirm this Easter egg, the likelihood of its intentionality seems high, especially in light of the previous references to both Star Tours and Captain EO in the premiere, along with various Easter eggs from Pirates of the Caribbean scattered throughout Skeleton Crew. Moreover, the At Attin insignia isn’t the sole Disneyland homage featured in episode 3.
Star Tours’ Starspeeder-1000 Makes a Cameo in Skeleton Crew Episode 3
The Latest Appearances of the Starspeeder-1000 in Star Wars
Notably, episode 3 features a Starspeeder-1000 prominently in the backdrop of Port Borgo’s shipyard. This fascinating inclusion joins a variety of other Easter egg spacecraft, including a Lothalian corvette and what appears to be Hondo Ohnaka’s ship from Galaxy’s Edge, as well as an early design of the Millennium Falcon. This not only reinforces the earlier insignia reference but also stands alone as a remarkable Easter egg. Appearances by the Disneyland starship in the canonical Star Wars universe are rare, with its most notable previous appearance in The Rise of Skywalker during the climactic Battle of Exegol.
