As of December 18, 2024, following the 1.6 update, numerous items have been introduced to the game, affecting the preferences of many Pelican Town residents, including Clint. Notably, a helpful book has been added to his list of preferred gifts, enhancing the dynamics of gift-giving and friendship building.
Gift Guide
As a skilled blacksmith, Clint appreciates receiving valuable crafting materials, along with intriguing crystals and relics found in the mines. Players can engage with him by visiting his shop, conveniently located just south of JojaMart. On Fridays, after restoring the Community Center, he can be found there, while evenings often see him at the Saloon, daydreaming about Emily.
Gifts presented on Clint’s birthday, Winter 26, yield an impressive 8x increase in friendship points, making it the perfect occasion to maximize your connection with him.
Clint’s Loved Gifts
Delivering any of the following beloved items to Clint will grant players a substantial boost of 80 friendship points:

Clint’s Liked Gifts

Items such as coal, gold ore, iridium ore, and refined quartz are considered Neutral gifts, granting Clint 20 friendship points.
Disliked & Hated Gifts
Giving gifts that fall below the Neutral level will result in a decrease in friendship points. While the penalties for Disliked gifts are not as severe as for Hated ones, it’s advisable to avoid presenting Clint with these items:
- All flowers
- Any item categorized as a universal dislike, excluding those listed as loved or liked.
- All universal hates
Other Ways to Boost Friendship
Quests
Similar to other villagers, Clint posts requests on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s Shop. His quests may involve defeating specific monsters, collecting resources, or delivering items. Completing any of these tasks will provide a generous +150 friendship points.
On Winter 6, Clint may send a note requesting assistance by delivering an amethyst to Emily, although this interaction will increase your friendship with her instead. Additionally, on Winter 17, he will request an Iron Bar, completing this task rewards players with 1 heart in friendship.
Heart Events
One of Clint’s heart events significantly impacts friendship. Upon reaching three hearts, visit the Stardrop Saloon on a Monday evening from 7 to 11 PM. Clint, feeling disheartened about his romantic life, will seek the player’s advice. Players have four choices:
- “Just act natural…be yourself.”– No impact on friendship.
- “Act crazy, to keep people guessing.”– +25 friendship points.
- “Impress women with your strength and charm.”– +25 friendship points.
- “Treat women the same as men.”– This is the optimal choice, yielding +50 friendship points.
Movie Theater
Once the Missing Bundle is completed, granting access to the movie theater, players can invite Clint to a movie by offering him a ticket. Clint enjoys all films except for The Zuzu City Express, and his favorite concession items are Fries and Stardrop Sorbet.
Benefits of Friendship
As players improve their friendship with Clint, he may share some of his unique recipes:
- Algae Soup: Received at three hearts. This dish provides the player with minor energy and health restoration, utilizing inexpensive ingredients.
- Bean Hotpot: Received at seven hearts. This nutritious dish increases the player’s health and energy while providing a magnetism buff.
Beyond recipes, Clint also has the chance to send players valuable crafting materials, such as a copper bar, iron bar, or gold bar, as friendship levels rise. Early in the game, these items are crucial for crafting, making a strong relationship with Clint highly advantageous.
