The Boys Casts Stranger Things Actor for Upcoming Final Season

Essential Insights

  • Mason Dye, known for his role in Stranger Things, joins The Boys as the character Bombsight in its concluding season.
  • This new character, Bombsight, has not been featured in Season 4 and is entirely original to the series, without any background in the comic books that inspired it.
  • Speculations suggest Bombsight may have connections to significant historical events, like the Korean War, possibly indicating a troubling history.

Although The Boys won’t return until 2026, showrunner Eric Kripke is actively preparing for the final season by bringing in fresh cast members. Notably, Kripke recently confirmed the addition of a new character to the Amazon Prime Video lineup.

This new entry is particularly intriguing, as audiences have yet to see Bombsight in action. The character wasn’t a part of Season 4 but was alluded to, marking him as a completely new superhero who hasn’t been depicted in the graphic novels that form the basis of the series.

On Wednesday, The Boysannounced via their official Twitter account that Mason Dye would be joining the show as Bombsight. The account provided minimal information regarding Bombsight’s persona or alignment—whether he will ally with Butcher and his group or be among the formidable super-powered individuals that Homelander gathered post his government takeover. “More details, you ask?”teased the account. “You know better by now.”

The particulars about Bombsight are mostly held by the show’s creators, especially since this character hasn’t appeared in either the ongoing series or the source comics. While Bombsight was initially mentioned in Season 4’s fifth episode titled, “Beware the Jabberwock, My Son,”it sets the stage by revealing that he is one of the oldest “supes,”having emerged during the 1940s and 1950s. Though details remain sparse, he did feature as an actor in a film named The Curse of Fu Manchu.

The name Bombsight suggests a military background, potentially hinting at his involvement in significant conflicts like the Korean War. Given his film title’s seemingly stereotypical Asian reference, it’s plausible that Bombsight may have also had a secretive connection to World War II or even links to the Nazis akin to the character Stormfront.

If such is the case, Bombsight’s character arc may resemble that of Jason Carver, whom Dye played on Stranger Things. Carver was the dedicated captain of Hawkins High’s basketball team who, amid the town’s growing fears of the Satanic Panic, transformed into a vigilante searching for his girlfriend’s murderer. However, in The Boys, Bombsight will possess the powers rather than being a pawn of a supernatural entity.
