A Young Woman’s Quest to Find Her Brother
Informed by the narrative of Stålenhag’s novel, the plot follows Michelle (Brown), a teenage girl who faces life alone following the tragic loss of her parents and her brother. The setting is an alternative mid-1990s United States, depicting a world scarred by a recent civil conflict between humans and robots. Amidst this post-apocalyptic landscape, where both friendly and malevolent robots roam, Michelle sets out on a perilous journey to locate her brother with the assistance of an enigmatic robot companion.
Along her way, Michelle encounters Keats (Pratt), a smuggler, and a supportive robot sidekick (Mackie). When she discovers that her brother sent another robot to guide her, she includes it in her quest.
