The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 6 Ending Explained: Is the Siege of Eregion Approaching?

The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 6 premiered on September 19, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. The prior episode highlighted Adar seeking Galadriel’s assistance to combat Sauron. In this latest episode, Adar commences the siege of Eregion with his forces.

Titled “Where is He?”, the synopsis for Episode 6 reads:

“Galadriel considers a proposition. Elendil faces judgment. The Stranger finds himself at a crossroads. Sauron’s plans bear fruit.”

The newest episode of The Rings of Power Season 2 reintroduces the characters of the Stranger and Tom Bombadil, both of whom were absent in the previous installment. Additionally, the fate of Elendil, which was left uncertain in Episode 5, receives an unexpected resolution in this episode.

The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 6 illustrates Sauron nearing his objective to dominate Middle Earth, demonstrating his constant scheming and manipulation to achieve his goals. This episode showcases Sauron at his most devious.

The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 6 Ending: Eregion Faces a Siege

The episode begins with Adar’s plan to recruit Galadriel’s help in his struggle against Sauron. In the previous episode, he argues that both he and Galadriel share a common adversary: Sauron. Adar believes that their alliance would enhance their chances of winning.

Moreover, in The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 6, Adar presents Galadriel with a powerful weapon he intends to wield against Sauron: Morgoth’s crown. He previously employed this crown to inflict harm on Sauron, as depicted in Episode 1. Adar suggests that with the elves’ rings and Morgoth’s crown, they could potentially defeat Sauron.

Adar proposes launching an immediate attack on Eregion, aiming to surprise Sauron. However, Galadriel hesitates, fearing that Sauron desires Adar to take such action, allowing him to seize control of the orc army once they reach Eregion.

Ignoring Galadriel’s apprehensions, Adar advances towards Eregion with his orc army. The closing scenes depict Eregion being relentlessly bombarded with massive fireballs propelled by catapults. Remarkably, this attack does not disturb Sauron; in fact, it seems to delight him, validating Galadriel’s concerns.

What is Sauron Planning Now?

Throughout The Rings of Power Season 2, Sauron has been disguised as Annatar, expertly manipulating Celebrimbor into creating more rings. Episode 6 follows this trend.

Celebrimbor temporarily halts his ring-making due to a shortage of Mithril. In response, Sauron seeks more Mithril from the dwarves to enable Celebrimbor to resume crafting rings for men but returns empty-handed as King Durin refuses to part with any Mithril.

Nonetheless, Sauron remains undeterred, devising a variant of Mithril from his own blood. As the episode concludes, he presents this new material to Celebrimbor. It is clear that the rings created from this unique substance will carry traces of Sauron’s essence.

Additionally, Sauron deceives Celebrimbor into believing that all is well in Eregion by magically altering the natural elements, creating an illusion of tranquility. Consequently, Celebrimbor resumes the creation of the rings, oblivious to the fact that Eregion is under siege by Adar’s orcs.

The New Episode Reveals Updates on the Stranger and Miriel

In Rhûn, the Stranger grows impatient, worrying about Nori’s safety without him. However, Tom Bombadil encourages him to focus on the larger picture and let go of his immediate concerns. It is apparent that the Stranger is set for significant development under Tom Bombadil’s guidance, a character known for his wisdom throughout Middle Earth.

Meanwhile, in Númenor, political intrigue unfolds. Following the events portrayed in The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 5, the new episode depicts Phârazon cornering Elendil, placing his fate in the hands of the Valar.

Elendil steadfastly refuses to submit to Phârazon or strike a compromise, despite Miriel’s pleas. Ultimately, Miriel intervenes, claiming she should accept punishment instead of Elendil, given that he has always operated under her guidance.

An unexpected twist occurs when Miriel’s life is spared by the seaworm, signaling the people of Númenor that she is the rightful ruler, complicating Phârazon’s position significantly.

Viewers can look forward to the next installment of The Rings of Power Season 2, scheduled for release on September 26, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
