Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 5
Star Wars appears to be paving the way for an intriguing redemption arc for Boba Fett, three years after his divisive series. In The Book of Boba Fett, this iconic bounty hunter seemingly turned his back on his infamous past, opting instead to become Tatooine’s new daimyo, establishing his reign from the former palace of Jabba the Hutt. Yet, the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga might just be hinting at a more promising future for Fett.
In episode 5 of Skeleton Crew, Jude Law’s character Jod Na Nawood reunites with an old associate from the bounty hunter world while he and a group of lost children search for the hidden lair of pirate captain Tak Rennod, located beneath the Skull Ridge Mountain Hotel & Spa on the planet Lanupa. This encounter with a former bounty hunter not only highlights the changing dynamics within the Bounty Hunters’ Guild but also suggests a possible involvement of Boba Fett in the near future, which could serve to redeem his past narrative in the franchise.
Skeleton Crew’s New Bounty Hunter Is Working for a “Private Client”
Pokkit Isn’t Interested in Working for The Guild
Introducing herself as “Dash Zentin,”the bounty hunter known as Pokkit expresses her surprise at encountering her former colleague, who left her to fend for herself in a perilous situation. Remarkably, she mentions that she’s no longer aligned with the Bounty Hunters’ Guild, dismissing its “low-rent jobs.”Instead, Pokkit has opted to work for a private client, indicating that her new role is more lucrative, as evidenced by her leisurely stay at a high-end luxury spa featured in this latest episode of Skeleton Crew.
Notably, Pokkit is portrayed by actress Kelly Macdonald, famed for her voice role as Merida in Disney and Pixar’s Brave.
Could Boba Fett Be Setting Up A Rival Guild?
A New Guild for A New Star Wars Era
If there are signs indicating the disintegration of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild, this presents a unique opportunity for Boba Fett to assert his influence. Utilizing his resources as a daimyo in Tatooine, he could establish a new bounty-hunting organization that promises better compensation and increased respect for its members. Such a development would align far more closely with the character’s established brand than simply existing as a ceremonial figure in Mos Espa.
There is significant narrative potential surrounding Boba Fett’s creation of a rival guild within the Star Wars universe. As the existing Guild likely won’t yield its power without conflict, this could ignite a showdown among bounty hunters, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown. Such a plot would not only propel Boba Fett to the forefront but also allow for a fresh exploration of relationships within the bounty hunting community. This is a stark contrast to the first season of The Book of Boba Fett, where he was often overshadowed by the dynamic duo of Din Djarin and Grogu.
I’d Love to See Star Wars Give Boba Fett This Future
A Much Cooler Fate that Could Redeem His Show’s Ending
The notion of Boba Fett establishing a new guild presents an epic next chapter, one that could refresh the rather underwhelming conclusion of his series. It resonates with Fett’s legacy within the now non-canon Legends, where he indeed instigated significant changes and kickstarted factional conflicts during the original trilogy era. This compelling direction is undoubtedly the most exhilarating path for Star Wars to pursue for the infamous bounty hunter.
