Tia Mowry Reveals Strained Relationship with Twin Sister Tamera Mowry on Family Reunion

In the latest episode of Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which premiered on September 20, Tia Mowry shared intimate details about her life, including her relationship with her twin sister Tamera and her recent divorce from Cory Hardrict.

During the discussion about her divorce, Mowry expressed a longing to reach out to her sister for support. She admitted that their bond isn’t as strong as it once was, stating that one of the most challenging aspects of her divorce was the loneliness she felt. She reflected:

“I wish that my sister and I were still close.”

For those unfamiliar, Tia and Tamera Mowry rose to fame through the 1994 sitcom Sister, Sister. The twins enjoyed a successful career together in films and television, also featuring in various smaller commercials over the years. Tia noted on the show that she simply “wasn’t close”to her sister anymore.

Mowry shared her thoughts on their twin connection:

“I came into this world with a twin. And right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship, so I have never been alone in my life.”

The sisters, born in July 1978 in West Germany, also starred together in the Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches. Despite Tia stating that they are not as close now, she did not disclose the reasons behind this distance.

Tia Mowry Discusses Her Divorce Decision

In a previous appearance on The Today Show in November 2022, Mowry revealed her reasons for filing for divorce from her former husband. She explained that she recognized it was time to move forward. During the interview, she remarked:

“I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness. I feel like women, we tend to focus on everybody else’s happiness, making sure that everybody else is OK — meaning our children, our friends, our family — but at the end of the day, it’s about self-love.”

Although her marriage ended, Mowry described it as a successful relationship, stating:

“It’s not about staying in something because however long you are in that situation that equals success. It’s about really, again, are you happy? Because life is really short.”

She added that one of the hardest adjustments was dropping her children at their father’s home. While reflecting on her strained relationship with her sister, she caught up with her friend Natasha Marc, sharing her healing journey. Mowry expressed:

“I feel that right now, yes, I’m vulnerable in my life, but it’s the first time where I am actually realizing that I have a choice.”

Emotional while discussing her experiences during and after the divorce, Mowry’s show is produced by Tia Mowry, Adam Griffin, and Erin Richard. According to PEOPLE, it is set to air on October 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on We TV.
