When news surfaced that plans for a combined remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 had been canceled, many fans worried that the cherished skateboarding franchise was once again on the back burner for Activision. However, recent developments suggest that the situation may not be as bleak as initially thought.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Tony Hawk himself recently shared a nostalgic post on Instagram. In the caption of his post, Hawk mentioned, “I’m not supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series; but there will be a future.”
This isn’t the first instance of Hawk hinting at the series’ potential revival. Just earlier this month, he revealed that he was “talking to Activision again” and that they were “working on something” that “the fans will truly appreciate.”
According to previous reports, a remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 was under development at Vicarious Visions, the studio behind the successful 2020 release, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Unfortunately, the project was halted following the studio’s merger with Blizzard Entertainment.
