Kinich is an exciting new 5-Star character introduced in the latter half of Genshin Impact 5.0. This Dendro DPS unit excels in both attack scaling and fits perfectly within Burning and Burgeon team compositions. As a character hailing from Natlan, Kinich’s gameplay mechanics are centered around Nightsoul and Phlogiston, unique features tied to his region. Each character from Natlan has special traversal mechanics related to Nightsoul, and Kinich exemplifies this beautifully.
Part of the Scions of the Canopy tribe, Kinich shares several similarities with the tribe’s representative, the Yumkasaurus.
Kinich’s Elemental Skill allows him to utilize a grappling hook for traversing large distances, much like the Yumkasaurs. This ability makes him an excellent choice for exploration, enabling him to move swiftly and efficiently across the game map.
This article outlines the best strategies for using Kinich in Natlan, keeping in mind the region’s unique Nightsoul and Phlogiston mechanics.
3 Effective Strategies for Exploring with Kinich in Genshin Impact
1) Utilize His Elemental Skill to the Fullest
Kinich’s Elemental Skill is crucial in Genshin Impact, providing substantial benefits both in exploration and combat. It enables him to shoot a grappling hook into the air, allowing him to perform a high swing that covers considerable distance. This foundational skill is essential for exploring vast areas without the need for continuous sprinting.
It’s important to note that Kinich will only execute his mid-air swing when no enemies are present nearby. If enemies are in proximity, he will instead latch onto them with his grappling hook.
2) Monitor His Phlogiston Bar
Like all characters from Natlan, Kinich has a Phlogiston bar displayed above his HP bar, allowing you to monitor his Phlogiston levels.
As long as Kinich has enough Phlogiston left, you can use his Elemental Skill for a second mid-air swing. Each additional swing requires 10 Phlogiston points, so you’ll need to ensure you have a minimum amount available for consecutive uses of his Elemental Skill.
This double-swing ability mirrors that of the Yumkasaurs, who can also perform two consecutive mid-air swings, given they have enough Phlogiston points. However, Kinich’s swings are higher and cover more distance compared to the Yumkasaurs, making him an exceptional character for exploration.
3) Leverage Coilgrass Sigils
When using Kinich’s Elemental Skill, he will shoot a grappling hook into the air without targeting anything initially, enabling him to swing. However, if there are Coilgrass Sigils nearby, his grappling hook will prioritize these and latch onto them automatically.
This mechanic functions similarly to the Yumkasaur’s grappling ability, where Coilgrass Sigils are always selected as grapple targets if available in the vicinity.
Using Coilgrass Sigils while grappling does not trigger a cooldown for Kinich’s Elemental Skill, allowing for smart combinations between mid-air grappling and the use of his Elemental Skill. This can significantly enhance your capacity to traverse large spaces efficiently.
