Top 5 Features and Changes in the Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 Update

The release of Minecraft 1.21.30 for Bedrock Edition took place on September 17, 2024. This update not only brings a variety of changes and bug fixes but also incorporates several features inspired by previous Bedrock previews. Relative to its recent previews, this base game update offers numerous adjustments and additions that are certainly worth downloading and exploring.

In this article, we’ll highlight some of the standout features and changes from Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30, given that not every addition and fix holds significant impact.

Top Five Features and Changes in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30

1) Bundles Now Available in the Base Game

Bundles, which allow players to store multiple items or blocks in a single inventory slot, were initially set to be part of the Caves & Cliffs update. After years of testing in Bedrock previews, bundles have been implemented into the base version of Bedrock Edition, albeit as an Experimental Feature. Despite this, they function effectively for those needing extra inventory space.

It’s important to note that, since bundles are labeled as an Experimental Feature, they may still experience bugs or unintended issues. However, you no longer need to access Bedrock previews to use them.

2) Improvements to Ominous Bottles

In Minecraft, ominous bottles can impart different degrees of the Bad Omen effect, contingent on their rank. Previously, in older versions of Bedrock Edition, it wasn’t possible to consume a lower-ranked bottle if a higher-ranked version of Bad Omen was already active.

Fortunately, this issue has been rectified in Bedrock 1.21.30. Now, players can consume any ominous bottles they prefer to obtain the corresponding rank of Bad Omen, irrespective of the currently active effect.

3) Adjustments to Trial Chambers

Upon the introduction of trial chambers in Minecraft 1.21, players found empty chests at the entrance of these structures. Some confusion arose regarding their purpose. Mojang clarified that these were meant for disposal and inventory management, and with the Bedrock 1.21.30 update, they have made a change to enhance this clarity.

The empty chests have been replaced with barrels connected to hoppers. This setup allows players to discard unwanted items into the barrel while exploring the trial chamber.

4) Item/Block Name Parity with Java Edition

As part of an ongoing effort to eliminate confusion between the Java and Bedrock Editions, Bedrock 1.21.30 features a series of name changes for blocks and items, aligning them with their counterparts in Java Edition. For instance, Enchanted Apples have been renamed to Enchanted Golden Apples to match the Java terminology. Numerous items and blocks have been updated in this manner.

This change aims to reduce any confusion players may have regarding the names of similar items and blocks between the two game editions.

5) Return of Moody Ambient Music in Basalt Deltas

Previously, basalt delta biomes in the Nether featured unique ambient music during player exploration, though this was subsequently removed. Mojang has now reintroduced this atmospheric music.

While it’s a minor change, fans who appreciate the game’s musical aspect will likely view it as a welcome addition to the Bedrock 1.21.30 update.
