The latest event from Niantic for Pokémon GO is fast approaching, with the Wild Area promising an engaging experience centered around capturing Pocket Monsters and battling Raid Bosses, reminiscent of the GO Tours and GO Fests. Participants can opt for a ticket that unlocks a wide range of exciting perks.
As the newest event format introduced in Pokémon GO, players may be curious about what to expect from the Wild Area. Fortunately, Niantic has shared detailed insights about this event.
The live celebration is scheduled for November 16, 2024, in Fukuoka, Japan, while the global festivities will commence on November 23, 2024.
5 Exciting Features of Pokémon GO’s Wild Area Event
1) Safari Balls
Since the Wild Area in Pokémon GO emphasizes capturing Pokémon, Niantic has provided players with a more effective method to acquire premium Poké Balls for extended playing sessions.
The return of the Safari Ball, which was first seen in main series games, has been confirmed. This exclusive Poké Ball is traditionally associated with Safari Zones and is recognized for its unique design.
Similar to its main series counterpart, Pokémon GO’s edition of the Safari Ball features an enhanced capture rate, making it superior to regular Poké Balls. In the original games, its capture rate closely resembles that of Ultra Balls, suggesting Niantic may adopt a similar mechanic here.
2) Introduction of the Toxel Line
The Wild Area will mark the first appearance of Toxel, Toxtricity, and Gigantamax Toxtricity. These Pokémon, known for their captivating designs and unique type combination of Poison and Electric, have quickly gained popularity from the Galar region.
Additionally, purchasing a ticket for the event enhances the likelihood of encountering Toxel from 10 km eggs. Notably, shiny versions of these Pokémon will also be released on the same day—an unusual but exciting occurrence.
3) Mighty Pokémon
Niantic has announced the introduction of a new variant of wild Pokémon during the Wild Area event. This detail has many trainers believing that these Mighty Pokémon will coexist in the wild with the usual Pocket Monsters.
As fully evolved Pokémon, Mighty variants will be easy to identify on the in-game map. They are expected to appear in larger XL or XXL sizes and boast improved IVs.
However, a notable challenge awaits, as Mighty Pokémon will be more difficult to capture than their base forms. Fortunately, the introduction of Safari Balls will aid trainers in catching them more efficiently.
4) Return of Origin Legendaries
It’s been confirmed that the Origin forms of Dialga and Palkia will be back for the Wild Area event. These variants, first introduced in Pokémon Legends Arceus, feature enhanced stats compared to their standard forms. In Pokémon GO, these Legendary Pokémon also come with exclusive Adventure Effects.
Trainers using Origin Dialga can access the Roar of Time ability, which temporarily halts the timer on consumables like Incenses, Lucky Eggs, and Star Pieces, with the time benefit scaling according to the amount spent. Similarly, Origin Palkia grants access to Spacial Rend, enhancing the interaction range with wild Pokémon, also scaling with item expenditure.
5) The Return of Iconic Costumed Pokémon
The Wild Area event sees the return of Rock Star and Pop Star Pikachu, two unique Cosplay variants that have only been available at one previous event, making them some of the rarest Pokémon in the game.
Additionally, a themed Rock ‘n’ Roll Snorlax will feature during the event. This version of Snorlax, donned in a stylish leather jacket adorned with pins, spikes, and studs, might just take the title of coolest Pokémon from Sunglasses Blastoise.
