Tower of God season 2, episode 16 offered a significant leap in the storyline as the intense pre-Workshop Battle heats up towards the climax. Team Sweet and Sour forges ahead without Prince and Miseng, while Ja Wangnan and an unwilling Khun Aguero Agnes embark on a quest to locate them. With less than a hundred competitors remaining, the battleground has become increasingly frantic, and Viole faces mounting pressure as he reconnects with old allies like Shibisu and Anaak.
This episode features striking animation during Viole’s confrontation against Shibisu’s team, marking a rare instance where the visuals of the second season align well with the intriguing plot progression. Moreover, Endorsi finally learns about Viole’s concealed identity.
Ja Wangnan Tracks Down Prince and Miseng
The Kidnapper’s Might
The episode begins with Ja Wangnan observing a young girl with a giant octopus from the previous episode that is holding Miseng and Prince captive. The peculiar scenario is disconcerting, and he struggles to find an opportunity to act. Initially, Aguero informs him that he is on his own, as he was reluctant to search for them. However, after Ja Wangnan insists—with even a self-threatening maneuver using a dark bullet—Khun reluctantly agrees to accompany him.
Upon identifying the girl as Verdi, a puppet master from Shibisu’s team, Khun grows anxious and warns Wangnan against engaging, implying Verdi’s considerable power. Wangnan can only observe as the colossal octopus begins to illuminate, unaware of how crucial Verdi’s involvement is to the ongoing battle. Later, he and Khun resolve to head towards the Archimedes, given that Verdi has already dispatched Prince and Miseng in that direction.
Team Shibisu Faces Team FUG
Viole Disrupts Shibisu’s Strategy
The story at the hotel where Team FUG is stationed resumes directly after the last episode, with Viole intervening in the skirmish between Anaak Jahad and Khun Ran, both of whom he directs towards the Archimedes. Assisted by one of Verdi’s controlled dolls, Shibisu manages to use a ring that restricts the wearer’s Shinsu output, creating a significant challenge for Viole who struggles to tap into the powers that usually allow him to overpower foes. The ring operates via Verdi’s giant octopus, which siphons away any Shinsu Viole attempts to manipulate. Yuto, one of his teammates, suffers a potentially fatal injury from Vespa, someone with bee-like abilities. The injury is injected with a lethal toxin that will prove fatal if the antidote contained in honey isn’t administered within five minutes. Driven by the urgency to prevent any fatalities, Viole unleashes the dormant power he has seldom shown, a force Ilmar Beniamino had inquired about before his departure to find Cassano.
Ilmar suspected that Viole possessed similar capabilities to his and Cassano’s “Devil of the Right/Left Arm,”identifying him as another Ignition Weapon. Past glimpses of this unique power within Bam revealed it to be responsible for his swift healing abilities, but it’s the first occasion where we witness it used offensively. As seen with Ilmar and Cassano, Viole manifests a wing-like feature emanating from his back, glowing light that resembles a true wing, significantly increasing his attack potency.
A thrilling animation sequence showcases Viole activating this ability, charging at Shibisu’s ally, Amigo, culminating in an exhilarating impact frame that represents a fantastic fight scene and a brilliant showcase of the devilish power Viole has concealed. He efficiently deals with Vespa and initiates a negotiation with Shibisu: in return for their ammunition and the antidote honey, Viole proposes to escort Shibisu and his companions to the Archimedes. Novick curiously inquires why Viole saved Anaak too, yet Viole refrains from answering and instead requests Novick to convey to Riplejo that it’s a directive from him.
The Workshop Battle Officially Begins
Endorsi Uncovers a Startling Revelation
With the participant count dwindling to zero, the Workshop Battle is all set to unfold aboard the Archimedes. However, Team Shibisu gets hit with unfortunate news as they are poised to compete without Endorsi, who is preoccupied with eliminating the swarm of sentry robots left by Traveller and Viole.
Once she defeats the last sentry, Endorsi fortuitously encounters Traveller and grills him about Jue Viole Grace’s whereabouts. Confusion ensues as Traveller clarifies that the individual he was accompanying isn’t Viole but rather The Twenty-Fifth Bam. It takes a moment for Endorsi to digest this information. Overall, episode 16 of Tower of God season 2 was quite engaging, weaving various crucial narrative threads with a significant revelation regarding the latent powers Bam/Viole has been concealing.
