As the 2024 election heats up, former President Donald Trump has once again seized the opportunity to allege electoral fraud, a move that comes as no surprise given his history. With key swing states still awaiting results, Pennsylvania, in particular, is drawing significant attention.
The term “swing state”was virtually unheard of during my childhood in Pennsylvania. Traditionally, this state was a stronghold for Democratic votes. However, the political landscape shifted dramatically with the rise of Trump, leaving many longtime residents, including myself, bewildered by the ensuing chaos.
In 2020, Pennsylvania contributed to President Joe Biden’s nomination, marking a return to a more familiar political climate. After the shock of the 2016 election, I felt as if I no longer recognized my home state. Now, as we approach the 2024 elections, all eyes—and Trump’s allegations—are once again fixated on Pennsylvania.
Currently, Trump is making claims about election irregularities in Philadelphia, even though the results have yet to be finalized. He took to his Truth Social platform to express his concerns, stating, “A lot of talk about massive cheating in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming!!!”This preemptive accusation raises questions about his confidence as the election remains “too close to call.”
There it is. He’s claiming fraud early, just like we said he would. This is a strong sign he realizes he’s losing.

Why Target Philadelphia or Pittsburgh?
While Trump’s strategy of attacking pivotal states is hardly groundbreaking, it is perplexing that he would focus on Philadelphia—an area where he has little chance of success. During the 2020 elections, Biden dominated the city, securing over 80% of the vote and defeating Trump by nearly 500,000 votes. So, why direct his fiery rhetoric at a city that has not historically supported him?
Similarly, in Pittsburgh, Biden also emerged victorious, albeit by a narrower margin. This begs the question: What rationale does Trump have for claiming he could ever win these urban strongholds? His narrative feels increasingly disconnected from reality, leaving many, including myself, bewildered.
As we await final results, it is crucial to remain cautious regarding Trump’s unfounded allegations of fraud. Despite his grandstanding, he was never poised to win in Philadelphia, regardless of how much he might wish that to be true. With 19 critical electoral votes at stake, Pennsylvania’s voters will ultimately decide the outcome, yet Trump’s preemptive strikes signal his growing anxiety.
