The momentum for Donald Trump’s 2024 bid for the presidency might be stagnating. Esteemed Republican strategist Margaret Hoover has pointed out that the turnout from Trump’s supporters may fall short of expectations.
During her appearance on CNN’s “The Source,” Hoover discussed what crucial indicators she would monitor if she were part of the campaign team. She expressed that while Trump’s team might disregard CNN’s polls, they are more inclined to trust their internal data. Despite having ample resources for polling purposes, Hoover suggests that Trump’s internal data is showing signs of stagnation.
Hoover further mentioned her conversations with Republican insiders, revealing a sentiment that “concern is rising within the Trump campaign.” According to the operatives she consulted, the levels of “turnout and enthusiasm are not meeting expectations.” However, it’s premature to conclude whether this concern is justified among Trump’s circle, considering the intensely competitive nature of the 2024 presidential race between Trump and Harris, where the outcome remains uncertain.

Trump’s recent event at Madison Square Garden was intended as an appeal to undecided voters; however, many attendees felt discontented. Some comedian performers in the event made jokes at the expense of Latinos and other ethnic groups—groups that Trump has sought to appeal to. Additionally, various Republican voices have criticized the event for its racial insensitivity. Even Megyn Kelly, a prominent supporter of Trump, voiced her worries that the rally could alienate women and expressed concern about the negative media coverage it received.
On a positive note, Trump’s economic proposals are gaining traction, with numerous voters backing his tax reduction plans, notwithstanding warnings from critics about potential inflation. Rising costs have consistently been a point of concern for Latino voters, which has aided Trump in garnering support within that demographic. His economic narrative may continue to resonate, but many Puerto Ricans are reevaluating their allegiance to Trump following the Madison Square Garden incident. Notable Puerto Rican artists have emerged to defend their community after the event, with singer Nicky Jam recently revoking his endorsement of Trump due to this controversy.
