Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are working hard to capture those crucial swing votes. In his attempt to present himself as a “man of the people,”Trump made a visit to his favorite fast-food chain, McDonald’s, where he took a turn at the fry station. However, there are reports suggesting that this particular McDonald’s was not operating during his visit.
Recently, Trump expressed his displeasure regarding Harris’s use of her past experience working at McDonald’s as a campaign talking point. Subsequently, he journeyed to Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, to take over the fry station and engage with customers for a few hours. During this time, he claimed to have spent more time working at McDonald’s than Harris, alluding to his unsubstantiated assertion that she lied about her employment there. Yet, many online have claimed that the location was actually closed for the duration of his visit, alleging that the customers were selectively chosen.

The former President is known for his fondness for the fast-food giant, frequently boasting about his consumption of their food, including offering a McDonald’s feast to guests at the White House. While I certainly enjoy a Sausage Egg McMuffin, I would find it rather disappointing to be served fast food during a celebratory visit to the White House.
Should he have kept it open?
The debate centers around whether Trump should have kept the restaurant open to engage genuinely with everyday patrons rather than just those handpicked to flatter him. From a security perspective, this might be understandable, especially in light of recent threats against Trump’s life. It certainly poses risks to allow unmonitored access to a presidential candidate, which could justify the closure. However, Trump’s claims about Harris being dishonest regarding her McDonald’s history while orchestrating a potentially fabricated publicity event himself showcases a notable level of hypocrisy.
Many see it as simply clumsy for a billionaire to don a façade of working-class solidarity, further emphasizing Trump’s disconnect with many Americans. A Reddit user commented in a discussion about the incident,
“Real workers are struggling to afford to live, and this completely out-of-touch billionaire decides to close a restaurant for the day so that he can play pretend? It’s hard enough to believe that this is actually real, let alone come up with a plausible reason for it… What an utterly weird thing to do.”
Regarding the minimum wage and issues impacting workers, Trump had little to contribute, spending most of his time criticizing Harris. He also raised eyebrows with comments about accepting election results, stating to reporters, “Sure, only if it’s a fair election.”This event has garnered significant attention, leading to the trending of #staged on social media.
