Ultimate Breach Guide for Path of Exile 2 – Strategies, Rewards, and Passive Skill Tips

In the expansive endgame Atlas of Path of Exile 2, players can encounter a range of exciting events, including Delirium, Rituals, Expeditions, and Breaches. Each event is easily identifiable by unique symbols that appear above each map node on the Atlas Map screen.

Breach events are particularly prevalent within the Atlas and can be somewhat confusing for newcomers. This comprehensive guide will illuminate the mechanics of Breaches, detail how to engage with them, explain the Breach Passive Skill Tree, and outline the rewards that await those who successfully navigate these engaging endgame encounters.

How To Successfully Navigate Breach Events in Path of Exile 2

When searching for Breach Events on the Atlas Map, look for a purple icon depicting an outstretched hand. This symbol denotes the presence of a Breach within the corresponding map node.

Upon entering a Breach area, players will notice a radiant dark purple zone, with a large hand emanating from the center. Clicking on this hand initiates a vast Breach circle that expands progressively. Players will see a new progress bar appear in the bottom-left corner of the screen, which signifies the time they have to engage with the Breach mechanics.

Killing enemies inside the expanding Breach circle contributes to filling the progress bar, which gradually diminishes over time. Notably, the area will not only host existing enemies but will also continuously spawn new adversaries, intensifying the challenge and increasing loot opportunities. Moreover, players will find Clasped Hands scattered throughout the circle, offering items such as Splinters, Catalysts, and other valuable rewards.

As the event progresses, the demand for slain enemies will eventually outstrip your capabilities, prompting the circle to retract. Once the circle returns to its initial state, the Breach concludes, yet all loot collected during the event remains available for players to gather. It is advisable to prioritize unique drops or Divine Orbs, as losing these to an unexpected demise can be frustrating.

Exploring the Breach Passive Skill Tree

Maximize Your Rewards with PoE 2 Breach Passives

Similar to the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, the Breach Passive Skill Tree enhances the Breach experience, offering players a variety of beneficial modifications. To access these passives, players can navigate to the Atlas Map, select the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, and focus on the left side.

The Breach Passive Skill Tree is characterized by its unique purple design and offers numerous enhancements, including:

  • Rising Pyre and Interdimensional Assault: These passives amplify the number of enemies that can spawn within a Breach, thereby increasing loot potential.
  • Crumbling Walls: This passive bestows a chance to significantly raise the number of Breaches that can appear on impacted maps.
  • Grasping Hands: Enhances both the quantity of Grasping Hands and their rewards, while also increasing the frequency of Magic-tier enemies, raising the likelihood of rare loot.

Players can earn Breach Passive Skill Points by defeating the Pinnacle Boss known as Xesht, We That Are One. To summon this boss, players must collect 300 Breach Splinters and convert them into a Breachstone, which they can then activate at the Realmgate located early in the Atlas Map.

The fight features four difficulty levels, each granting 2 Breach Passive Skill Points upon completion, for a maximum of 8 Skill Points. Players can enhance the boss’s difficulty by utilising their Breach Passives, making it essential to improve the encounter’s challenge before every notable node in the Passive Skill Tree.

Catalysts, Splinters, and Boss Encounters – A Deep Dive!

Path of Exile 2 Breaches Guide Xesht Boss Realmgate

In the context of Breach events, players should be on the lookout for two pivotal Breach-specific currencies: Catalysts and Splinters.

Catalysts function as unique currency items that enhance the Quality of Jewelry (including Amulets and Rings). Each Catalyst type corresponds to distinct Modifier categories; for instance, the Carapace Catalyst improves Quality concerning Defensive modifiers, while the Neural Catalyst enhances Mana-related attributes. It’s important to note that these modifiers do not stack, with only the most recently applied Catalyst effect being active.

Breach Rings can also be acquired, with the potential to elevate their Quality from the standard 20% to a remarkable 50%. This enhancement capability makes Catalysts indispensable for optimizing jewelry performance.

Additionally, Splinters constitute a unique Breach currency that, when collected in sufficient quantities, can be combined to forge a Breachstone. Using this Breachstone at the Realmgate transports players to the Twisted Domain, an exclusive boss arena dedicated to the formidable Xesht, We That Are One. Defeating this boss yields higher-tier loot and awards players with two Breach Passive Skill Points. However, be cautious: falling in battle requires players to re-farm summoning materials, as second chances are not granted.
