Ultimate Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Guide: Fast Level Up, Early Gun Tips, Prestige Points Farming, and More

It has been over 18 years since the launch of the Dead Rising franchise, initially available exclusively on Xbox 360. The developers have now introduced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster across various platforms. This open-world action-adventure game offers players multiple approaches for progression. However, some essential tips and tricks can ensure a smoother experience, particularly in the early to mid-game phases.

Acquire an Early Gun

At the game’s start, you will encounter a survivor at the bottom of the stairs, fighting off a group of zombies with a shotgun. Instead of immediately following the directive to “Run for your life!” , evade the zombies long enough for the survivor to be overwhelmed, allowing you to pick up his weapon. Having a shotgun early on is invaluable, especially for quickly defeating Psychopaths, which unlocks even more weapons, both melee and ranged.

Find an Early Melee Weapon

Look for mannequins around the mall. Dismantle them until you can collect the torso, which serves as a highly effective melee weapon early in the game, before you obtain the Small Chainsaw.

Manage Weapon Durability

Given that durability is a significant aspect of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, ensure you gather the necessary skill books to sustain your weapons longer:

  • Criminal Biography
    • 3X edge weapons durability
    • Location: Sir Book-a-Lot in Wonderland Plaza 2F
  • Engineering
    • 3X tool and construction weapons durability
    • Location: Bachman’s Bookporium in Paradise Plaza 1F
  • Entertainment
    • 3X entertainment weapons durability
    • Location: Bachman’s Bookporium in Paradise Plaza 1F
  • Hobby
    • 3X hobby weapons durability
    • Location: Contemporary Reading in Paradise Plaza
  • Interior Design
    • 3X interior design weapons durability
    • Location: Bachman’s Bookporium in Paradise Plaza 1F
  • Lifestyle Magazine
    • 3X household weapons durability
    • Location: The Sinister Read in Entrance Plaza 2F
  • Sports
    • 3X sporting weapons durability
    • Location: Contemporary Reading in Paradise Plaza
  • Travel
    • 3X travel and shopping weapons durability
    • Location: Everyone Luvs Books in Entrance Plaza

Keep in mind that many weapons will respawn at their original locations.

Best Melee Weapon

The Small Chainsaw is indisputably the best melee weapon obtainable in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. You can obtain it from Adam the Clown, one of the Psychopath bosses located in Wonderland Plaza.

As a day 1 scoop, await Otis’ call at 9 PM, and then proceed to the plaza to confront Adam. Use the shotgun you collected early in the game for this encounter. After defeating Adam, collect the two Small Chainsaws he drops. To maximize their utility, also acquire the durability skill books mentioned earlier, specifically Criminal Biography and Engineering 1. Holding these books in your inventory will stack their effects, extending the Small Chainsaws’ usability significantly. When they break, simply return to their spawn location for more.

Unlimited Molotov Cocktails

The Molotov Cocktail serves as an efficient crowd control tool against zombie swarms. You can regain unlimited quantities by following a method established from the original game. Start on the morning of day 3 when Otis calls you to locate Paul the Arsonist, a Psychopath boss at the Casual Gals store in Wonderland Park.

Upon defeating him, wait for the cutscene, then pick up the Fire Extinguisher and extinguish the flames engulfing him to save his life. Speak with Paul to recruit him, then bring him and the other survivors back to the Security Room.

Later that day, expect another call from Otis prompting you to talk to Paul again. Back at the Security Room, Paul will inform you that you now have a limitless supply of Molotov Cocktails, as long as he remains with you.

Level Up Quickly

To level up rapidly, gather as many Prestige Points boosting skill books as possible before undertaking their associated PP-earning tasks:

  • Horror Novel 1
    • 25% PP boost for defeating zombies.
    • Location: The Sinister Read in Entrance Plaza 2F
  • Horror Novel 2
    • 25% PP boost for defeating zombies.
    • Location: Bachman’s Bookporium in Paradise Plaza 1F
  • Camera 1
    • 25% PP boost for taking photos.
    • Location: Contemporary Reading in Paradise Plaza
  • Camera 2
    • 100% PP boost for taking photos.
    • Location: Scoop: Photographer’s Pride in Paradise Plaza
  • Wartime Photography
    • 25% PP boost for taking photos.
    • Location: Everyone Luvs Books in Entrance Plaza
  • World News
    • 25% PP boost for rescuing survivors.
    • Location: The Sinister Read in Entrance Plaza

The effects of these skill books are stackable, only limited by your inventory space.

Farm Prestige Points Effectively

One of the most efficient methods for farming Prestige Points has always been running over zombies with a vehicle. However, vehicles will eventually start to smoke and explode. You can exploit loading screens to reset vehicles to their original locations in full condition:

Start at the red convertible in the Public Parking lot. Drive down to the Maintenance Tunnels, where you can find two additional vehicles. Use the convertible for fast travel and safely navigate to either of the other two vehicles, which are located northwest under the grocery store and east under Paradise Plaza. It doesn’t matter which vehicle you take first as you will create a circular route back to the convertible.

Run over as many zombies as possible to gather Prestige Points until the vehicle is about to explode, then switch to the next vehicle, attempting to return to the convertible afterwards. Once the second vehicle explodes, use the convertible to continue ramming into zombies until its durability is low. Then, exit the tunnels back into the Public Parking via the loading screen. This will reset all vehicles, allowing you to repeat the process.

Don’t forget to collect the PP-boosting skill books mentioned earlier for a total of 50% additional PP for all zombie kills, ensuring maximum efficiency when using this method.

These tips will help you start strong in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
