Erudition characters in Honkai: Star Rail are primarily recognized for their area-of-effect (AoE) attacks, and Jing Yuan exemplifies this trait. Unlike his peers, such as Serval and Himeko, Jing Yuan’s mechanics introduce an added layer of complexity that players need to master.

To optimize Jing Yuan’s effectiveness in the game, players should not only focus on his build but also understand the intricate mechanics that govern his playstyle. Gaining proficiency in these aspects will enable users to fully harness both Jing Yuan’s abilities and the power of his Lightning Lord.

Updated on December 27, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Jing Yuan has faced challenges in maintaining his tier ranking due to the current speed meta within Honkai: Star Rail. However, the anticipated Remembrance Path launch in version 3.0 is set to revitalize characters like Jing Yuan, particularly with the introduction of supportive relic sets and Harmony characters. This guide has been refreshed to reflect the latest and most effective build for Jing Yuan.

Jing Yuan Best Relics In Honkai: Star Rail

Jing Yuan Best Relics In Honkai Star Rail

The optimal Relic set for Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail is undoubtedly The Ashblazing Grand Duke. This setup enables him to reach the full 8 stacks on the first follow-up attack executed by his Lightning Lord, boosting his ATK by as much as 48%. Alternatively, Band of Sizzling Thunder remains a formidable choice if complemented by strong sub-stats.

Should 4pc The Ashblazing Grand Duke be unavailable, consider combining a 2-piece with other offensive relics such as Band of Sizzling Thunder, Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, or Scholar Lost in Erudition. Notable mentions also include Musketeer of Wild Wheat, Prisoner in Deep Confinement, and The Wind-Soaring Valorous.

For Planar Ornaments, The Wondrous BananAmusement Park stands out as the prime selection for enhancing Crit DMG. However, Inert Salsotto offers a solid alternative, improving Crit Rate in conjunction with boosting his Ultimate and follow-up DMG. While options like Space Sealing Station and Firmament Frontline: Glamoth provide decent substitutes, they don’t quite match the effectiveness of the follow-up attack enhancements available to Jing Yuan.

Jing Yuan Best Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail

In addition to his top-tier Light Cone, Before Dawn, Jing Yuan also benefits from utilizing the 5-star Light Cone Night on the Milky Way. Despite its passive being less than ideal for him, its 5-star status gives it an edge over many 4-star alternatives. Furthermore, Yet Hope Is Priceless and An Instant Before A Gaze serve as excellent stat-boosters for Jing Yuan’s Crit capabilities.

For those who want affordable alternatives, the 4-star Light Cone from the Honkai: Star Rail Battle Pass, Today is Another Peaceful Day, provides unconditional universal DMG enhancements. Players who obtained The Birth of the Self Light Cone can effectively utilize it for increasing the follow-up attack DMG from the Lightning Lord. Genius’ Repose remains a viable option, albeit less effective than the other options available.

Free-to-play users can consider The Seriousness of Breakfast or The Day The Cosmos Fell. Both of these Light Cones are accessible through the Forgotten Hall, and The Seriousness of Breakfast can be acquired by completing specific quests or opening the triple authentication gate in Honkai: Star Rail.

Jing Yuan Trace Priority In Honkai: Star Rail

When considering the Trace priority for Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail, the focus should predominantly be on his Talent, as the effectiveness of his Lightning Lord’s damage is reliant on it. Following that, players should prioritize upgrading his Skill and Ultimate, while the Basic Attack should be a secondary concern.

How To Play Jing Yuan In Honkai: Star Rail

how to play jing yuan in honkai star rail

Jing Yuan offers a distinctive playstyle as an Erudition character, primarily centered around his formidable Lightning Lord (LL). As a follow-up attack character, leveraging items that amplify follow-up DMG or utilizing Blessings of Elation in the Simulated Universe can significantly enhance his performance.

With a base SPD of 60, the Lightning Lord automatically executes attacks based on turn sequence. Starting with a minimum of three stacks and capable of reaching up to ten, each stack influences the number of hits dealt by the LL, with additional stacks providing increments to its SPD. Players can generate more stacks through their Skill and Ultimate, which contribute two and three stacks per use, respectively.

During gameplay, the Lightning Lord attacks three targets in succession—one primary target and two adjacent ones. The primary target incurs full damage, while adjacent ones sustain only 25% of the damage dealt. This random targeting can sometimes lead to situations where less desirable targets are hit, but the mechanic mitigates some RNG stress by ensuring that different targets are hit with each LL attack.

Typically, the Lightning Lord will activate shortly after Jing Yuan uses his Skill, so players are usually left with around five stacks. The challenge arises as Jing Yuan may require three to four Skill casts to recharge his Ultimate replenishment, making it difficult to maintain more than five stacks. Enhancing Jing Yuan’s SPD through artifacts becomes vital, especially once players progress to his Ascension 2 Trace, where the Lightning Lord’s Crit DMG is amplified by 25%.
