The recent Gleaming Depths update has significantly enriched the Fallout 76 gaming experience. Players can now participate in raids and earn rare 4-star legendary weapons among other features. One of the most anticipated inclusions is the introduction of CAMP pets. Previously, players had limited options for obtaining pets, primarily through occasional Fallout 1st subscriptions or by attempting to tame elusive wild beasts— a challenging and often frustrating endeavor.
Taming wild animals came with its own complications, including bugs that would cause pets to vanish or unfortunate incidents leading to their demise within the player’s CAMP. The newly implemented CAMP pets feature eliminates these concerns, allowing players to keep cats and dogs at their bases without fear of harm.
How To Acquire a CAMP Pet
Currently, there are two primary methods to acquire a CAMP pet:
- Purchase from the Atomic Shop: You can acquire a CAMP pet for 800 Atoms. Since items in the Atomic Shop are frequently updated, availability may change, making this route potentially time-sensitive.
- Season 19 Progression: Players can also earn CAMP pets by advancing through the ranks of Season 19. The available pets on this season’s scoreboard are:
- White German Shepherd: Rank 81, 50 Tickets
- Bombay Cat: Rank 81, 50 Tickets
Once you’ve secured a CAMP pet, place its shelter in an appropriate area of your CAMP, and the pet will appear. Players can customize their pets with crafted outfits and accessories, giving you the chance to name them and interact through a limited emote menu. While current interactions are modest, there is significant potential for Bethesda to expand these features with future updates.
The Future of CAMP Pets
CAMP pets have long been a sought-after feature among players, which suggests that Bethesda is likely to expand the range of available pets in the future. This could include new clothing options and accessories to enhance the customization of pets. However, it remains uncertain whether these additions will come as gameplay unlockables or be available solely through the Atomic Shop.
At present, you can only choose between dogs and cats as pets, but the potential for more diverse options is vast. Given the positive reception and the popularity of CAMP pets, it is anticipated that Bethesda will introduce a broader variety of pets as they evolve this feature over time.
