Everything Players Should Know About the Purgatory Game Mode in Warzone
Here’s a comprehensive look at the fascinating elements that make the limited-time game mode Purgatory in Warzone stand out:
- Portals: Purgatory includes portals that transport players to completely random locations on the map, including the surreal Flying Shipment.
- Flying Shipment: If you thought Purgatory couldn’t get any more bizarre, picture the map Shipment hovering above you during the match. That’s right; you can access this floating map via Parachutes, Helicopters, or by stepping into a Portal.
- Safe Zone: True to its name, the Safe Zone allows players to recover without taking or dealing damage, acting as a sanctuary for Operators. These zones are marked by translucent domes on the map. Upon entering a Safe Zone, the game shifts to a third-person perspective, where you can customize loadouts, communicate with other players, commend teammates, earn XP, and more.
- Torment Level: Your Torment Level increases as you eliminate enemies, leading to greater XP per kill. However, be cautious—higher Torment Levels also reveal your position on the mini-map, making you a target for opponents.
- Scare Packages: Scattered throughout the map, Scare Packages are small crates containing “powerful loot”with some “unexpected side effects.”Notably, these packages may include a Terriball, a unique item in Purgatory.
- Terriball: Found throughout the map and in Scare Packages, Terriballs can be shot, meleed, or kicked. If launched and hit an enemy, the target will be instantly eliminated.
These features contribute to the uniqueness of the Purgatory mode in Warzone. Currently, this game mode is live and is part of The Haunting events. Although Call of Duty has not yet specified an end date, they have indicated that it will be available for four weeks following the launch of Season 6. Therefore, the mode is projected to end by October 9, 2024.
