The Realmgate stands as a pivotal component of the endgame experience in Path of Exile 2. Unlike traditional map nodes that utilize Waystones for travel, the Realmgate employs a different mechanism that players must understand.
This comprehensive guide will illuminate the steps to locate the Realmgate, its functional uses, and what adventures lie beyond its portal. Being well-prepared and informed will enhance your gameplay experience and ensure that you maximize every opportunity on your journey.
Locating the Realmgate in PoE 2
The Realmgate is conveniently positioned right next to the starting area of the mapping phase. To quickly return to this location, simply click the floating home icon displayed on the mapping screen (as shown in the images above). This action will center your view on the mapping phase’s origin, where you’ll find the Realmgate adjacent to the stone Ziggurat.
It’s essential to note that the home icon may occasionally overlap with the red skull icon, which marks the Burning Monolith’s position. Fortunately, both of these key locations are usually in close proximity. Clicking on either icon will guide you to the other, ensuring you stay oriented.
Using the Realmgate in PoE 2
In contrast to standard map nodes, the Realmgate does not accept Waystones. Its main function is to provide access to the challenging endgame Pinnacle boss battles. Presently, there are four Pinnacle bosses that players can summon through this gateway. Here’s how to engage each using the Realmgate:
-
Xesht, We That Are One (Breach Pinnacle Boss): Gather 300
Breach Splinters
to craft a Breachstone. Use this Breachstone at the Realmgate to initiate the Xesht battle. - Olroth, Origin of the Fall (Expeditions Pinnacle Boss): Access a Level 79 or higher Logbook (available through Expeditions) by speaking with Dannig in your Hideout. Dannig can appear randomly during Expeditions, along with other NPCs like Rog, Gwennen, and Tujen, and will reside in your Hideout afterward.
-
The Simulacrum (Delirium Pinnacle Event): Combine 300
Simulacrum Splinters
to forge The Simulacrum, which you can activate at the Realmgate. This event features a map with 15 waves of Delirium foes, making it ideal for mapping configurations. - King in the Mists (Ritual Pinnacle Boss): Acquire the “An Audience With the King”item through the Ritual Favor system by spending Tribute. This item can then be utilized at the Realmgate to commence the encounter.
It is important to note that the Trialmaster and Zarokh, the Temporal are endgame bosses found at the final stages of the Trial of Chaos and Trial of Sekhemas, respectively, but are not linked to the Realmgate system.
For the ultimate challenge, players can confront The Arbiter or Ash, the most formidable of all endgame bosses. Unlike other bosses, Ash is located within the Burning Monolith and requires you to gather three Citadel keys, which are obtainable via a quest triggered upon your initial encounter with the Burning Monolith.
