Upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket Promo Cards Generate Excitement for Future Events, Yet Fans Spot a Key Issue

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has recently introduced nine new promotional cards, generating excitement among players for upcoming events. With the launch of Mythical Island, players can look forward to adding over 80 fresh cards to their collections. Among these, notable cards like Celebi ex and its complementary support card, Serperior, have the potential to significantly impact the current metagame. While players can acquire cards from Mythical Island through standard booster packs, keen observers have also spotted brand-new cards earmarked for future promotional events.

The newly updated card dex now accommodates nine slots reserved for these upcoming promo cards, offering a glimpse into what players can anticipate over the next six weeks. The lineup features a newly designed Pikachu promo card that showcases Pikachu alongside all the Kanto Starter Pokémon. Additionally, collectors will find alternate art versions of Blastoise and Moltres ex. New Chansey-stamped promo cards of Squirtle and Charmander join the ranks, along with promo editions of Eevee, Snivy, Cincchio, and Volcarona. Upcoming Events in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Anticipated Events: Wonder Pick and Solo Battles

Charmander Card
Squirtle Card
Pikachu Promo Card
Blastoise Card

These new promo cards are likely linked to several upcoming events mirroring popular formats from the past. For instance, the Blastoise full art card is expected to feature in a solo battle event where players confront a Blastoise-led AI deck. The presence of Charmander and Squirtle indicates that they will be incorporated into an upcoming Wonder Pick event, especially given the Chansey stamp on some cards. Interestingly, the new Pikachu card lacks a solo stamp, suggesting it is positioned as January’s Premium Pass card, following November’s offering, which showcased a different artwork of the same Pikachu.

However, one potential downside among the new cards is the Moltres ex card. While the Lapras ex was a distinct giveaway for the inaugural solo battle event, the Moltres ex seems to be just an alternate art card, which raises questions. Despite this, Moltres ex possesses the strength to warrant its own event, but it’s somewhat unexpected for an ex card to have two “normal”variations instead of a new exclusive full art or updated alternate art card.

With the introduction of the Mythical Island cards alongside these new promo options, players should find ample excitement to sustain engagement through to the end of January. Reports suggest that a larger set is set for release in January 2025, indicating that the current promo cards will suffice for approximately three events’ worth of rewards.

The crucial question ahead is how Pokémon TCG Pocket will celebrate its inaugural holiday season and whether there are plans for any unique surprises beyond the familiar staples of Wonder Pick and Solo Battle events.
