Fans of Netflix’s gripping thriller Carry-On have some exciting Taron Egerton projects on the horizon, including new films and an intriguing television series. In Carry-On, Egerton shares the screen with talented co-stars such as Jason Bateman (from Ozark), Sofia Carson (Descendants), Danielle Deadwyler (The Piano Lesson), and Theo Rossi (The Penguin). Since its release on December 13, 2024, the film has garnered a commendable Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, establishing itself as one of the most-watched titles on Netflix.
The storyline centers on Egerton’s character, Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent drawn into a web of deceit when he is blackmailed by a mysterious passenger played by Bateman. The plot escalates as Kopek must allow a potentially dangerous package to bypass security just before a crowded Christmas Eve flight. Egerton, recognized for his performances in the Kingsman series and as Elton John in Rocketman, hasn’t graced the big screen in a feature film since his role in the 2023 film Tetris.

She Rides Shotgun and Apex with Charlize Theron
Continuing his trend in action thrillers, Egerton is set to star in two upcoming films: She Rides Shotgun and Apex. The former, directed by Nick Rowland, is based on the award-winning novel by Jordan Harper and follows a young girl fighting for survival alongside her father. Egerton portrays Nate in a cast that includes John Carroll, David Lyons, Rob Yang, and Odessa A’zion.
Apex, on the other hand, tells the story of an adrenaline junkie facing more than just natural challenges on a treacherous river. Moreover, Egerton is slated to return in the much-anticipated sequel, Kingsman: The Blue Blood, where he will reprise his role as Gary “Eggsy”Unwin alongside Colin Firth as Harry Hart, directed and written by Matthew Vaughn.

Firebug Featuring Jurnee Smollett and John Leguizamo
Additionally, Egerton will appear in the upcoming crime drama series Firebug alongside Jurnee Smollett and John Leguizamo. This series is crafted by renowned writer Dennis Lehane, known for his works such as Mystic River and Shutter Island, and will follow the complex lives of a troubled detective and a mysterious arson investigator. Together, they pursue two serial arsonists. Although there is no official release date yet, Firebug is expected to debut in 2025, comprising nine episodes for its inaugural season on Apple TV+.
