Valorant Patch 9.08 Notes: Yoru and Gekko Buffs, New TDM Map Glitch, Sunset Map Updates, and More

This article will explore all the details mentioned previously, including the recently introduced Team Deathmatch arena known as Glitch.

Complete Valorant 9.08 Patch Notes: Changes Arriving on October 22, 2024

Below, you’ll find a comprehensive list of all the modifications included in the Valorant 9.08 patch notes released on October 22, 2024:

Agent Modifications in Valorant 9.08 Update

Gekko

Developer’s Insights:

Since the last enhancement to Gekko’s abilities in patch 7.12, we’ve observed that his main gameplay method—utilizing and retrieving his allies—comes with minimal drawbacks. The adjustments made to his globules will pressure Gekko to reclaim them more swiftly, while simultaneously providing his competitors opportunities to counter him if he acts without caution.

Dizzy and Wingman are set to receive enhancements to improve their reliability, minimizing situations where players observe them targeting and weakening an enemy, only to find that the opponent remains unaffected. These adjustments aim to address inconsistencies rather than directly boosting Gekko’s power.

While Dizzy is performing well in terms of counterplay engagement, we feel it holds positions and angles for excessively long durations. Moreover, with Gekko’s significant involvement in planting and defusing the Spike using Wingman, Thrash is becoming available too frequently for its effectiveness.

Our aim with these updates is not to drastically shift Gekko’s overall role within the game but to position him for more sustainable play in the long run.

Globules

  • World lifespan decreased from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • Reclaim duration increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds.

Dizzy

  • Active duration post-launch reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1 second.
  • Dizzy’s targeting mechanics have been enhanced for greater reliability.
  • Dizzy’s goop flash now impacts the minimap of affected foes.

Wingman

  • Expanded the concussive area’s angle from 45 degrees to 65 degrees.
  • Unique visuals introduced when Wingman transforms into a globule post-planting the Spike.

Thrash

  • Ultimate ability points increased from 7 to 8.

Yoru

Developer’s Insights:

Certain abilities failed to apply visual effects on Yoru’s Fakeout clone, making it too apparent to distinguish between the clone and the actual Yoru. We are carefully reviewing game abilities to ensure they interact with Yoru’s Fakeout appropriately.

  • Blind abilities, such as Gekko’s Dizzy and Vyse’s Arc Rose, now affect Yoru’s Fakeout clone as if he were a real Agent.
  • When blinding Yoru’s Fakeout clone, Vyse will trigger her “Successful Blind” celebration lines.
  • Cypher’s Neural Theft ability will now reveal Yoru’s Fakeout clone.
  • Clove’s Meddle will display the decay effect on Yoru’s Fakeout clone.

Skye and Jett

  • Skye’s Trailblazer and Jett’s Tailwind will no longer stop at the Ascent window; they will continue through uninterrupted.

Introducing Valorant’s Latest Team Deathmatch Map: Glitch

  • This is a 5v5 arena that features a dual-themed environment. It marks the fifth addition to the TDM map rotation, set within a “glitched out” Maxbot arena.
  • Players can access Glitch through the Team Deathmatch game mode queue.

Map Changes

  • Pearl and Split have returned to the Competitive queue.
  • Icebox and Lotus have been removed from the Competitive queue.

Sunset Updates

Developer’s Insights:

We are revamping Sunset’s B Site to enhance its defensibility during post-plant situations and to provide additional strategies for on-site play. The previous B Main pivot box added excessive pressure during post-plant scenarios, so we have streamlined the cover in that area. B Main will remain playable during post-plant, but it should be easier for retakers to manage. Additionally, a specific Cypher trip has been removed with these modifications.
