The VCT 2025 season has officially wrapped up, culminating with the Ascension event that showcased fierce competition among tier-two teams from around the world, all vying for a coveted franchise spot in the Pacific, China, EMEA, and Americas leagues.
Beginning the year, the tier-two teams engaged in their respective Challengers Leagues. After several months of intense competition, only a select few emerged to compete at the grand Ascension event. Below is a summary of the five teams that triumphed in Ascension and earned their places in VCT 2025.
Ascension Teams Securing Franchise Spots for VCT 2025
1) 2Game Esports
Hailing from Brazil, 2Game Esports competes in the Americas region. They commenced their season by participating in the Gamers Club Challengers League 2024, where they showcased impressive performances but concluded both Split 1 and Split 2 in third place.
Despite the setbacks, their accumulated points granted them automatic qualification for the Americas Ascension 2024. The beginning of this event was challenging, as they faced three losses in the Group Stage. However, the team turned the tide during the Playoffs, decisively eliminating opponents and narrowly defeating M80 in the Grand Finals to secure their position in the 2025 VCT Americas League.
2) Apex
Competing in the EMEA region, Apeks has emerged as one of the most formidable teams in the tier-two segment. As they began the 2025 season in the Challengers League 2024 North: Polaris, Apeks dominated the league, finishing first in both Splits and advancing comfortably to the EMEA Ascension.
At the Ascension event, Apeks consistently outperformed their competitors. With only one series loss throughout the tournament, they achieved a victory that eluded them in the Ascension of 2023. This win marks the return of players soulcas, MOLSI, and AvovA to the tier-one league.
3) Xi Lai Gaming
Xi Lai Gaming, a competitor in the Chinese Valorant esports scene, began their journey in the 2024 season with relatively low visibility. However, they soon made a name for themselves by winning the VALORANT China National Competition: Season 2 with remarkable ease.
During the Ascension China 2024, they faced a setback, losing their second match in the Group Stage. Nevertheless, they rebounded impressively, eventually claiming a resounding victory against tournament favorites Rare Atom with a clean 3-0 in the Grand Finals, thus securing their place in the VCT China League 2025.
4) Sin Prisa Gaming
Hailing from Korea, Sin Prisa Gaming competes within the Pacific region of Valorant esports. They faced a rocky start during Split 1 of the Challengers League, experiencing disappointment after losing the Grand Final of the Open qualifier. However, an incredible turnaround occurred during Split 2, where they emerged undefeated.
This momentum carried into the Ascension Pacific event, where they dominated their opponents, losing only two maps throughout the series—both against BOOM Esports in the Grand Finals. With such impressive talent on display, it will be exciting to see how Sin Prisa Gaming progresses in the VCT Pacific League in 2025.
5) BOOM Esports
BOOM Esports is a well-known organization competing in the Pacific region of Valorant. With a lengthy history in the esports landscape, they have even participated in international tournaments such as the Valorant Champions 2022.
In the 2024 season, BOOM Esports achieved second and first-place finishes in Split 1 and Split 2 of their Challengers League, securing their spot in the Pacific Ascension, where they were favorites to win. Ultimately, they fell short in the Grand Finals against Sin Prisa Gaming, missing out on an initial franchise slot.
Nevertheless, a surprising twist occurred post-Ascension when Riot Games announced complications involving BLEED Esports—an already partnered team—in meeting essential reporting standards. As a result, BLEED was dropped from VCT Pacific 2025, paving the way for runner-up BOOM Esports to fill the vacant franchise slot.
