As they set their course for New York City—hinting at a potential Spider-Man crossover—they are interrupted when a Xenophage, dispatched by Knull, locates them on a passenger jet. This Xenophage is on a mission to find the Codex, crucial for Knull’s escape from his prison, which can happen when a symbiote bonds with its host to revive them.
While Eddie and Venom navigate their way from Mexico to the East Coast, they encounter a family heading to Area 51 in New Mexico, lured there by the government’s plans to decommission the location. Government agents are shown eradicating all evidence of the site using a solution referred to as hyperacid, which corrosively dismantles anything in its path.
As Eddie makes his way from Mexico to the East Coast, he crosses paths with the commanding general overseeing Area 51, who dispatches troops to capture the Venom symbiote and potentially eliminate Eddie. Despite a fierce battle where it seems the general’s forces might prevail, the Xenophage intervenes and decimates the soldiers, allowing Eddie and Venom to flee.
Ultimately, the storylines of the introduced characters converge on Area 51, leading to Eddie’s capture in the very cell housing the seemingly deceased Detective Mulligan, who has been involuntarily interconnected with a different symbiote. Within this lab, the military personnel, including the relentless general intent on halting symbiote research, become aware of Knull’s minions advancing toward them.
How Does Venom: The Last Dance Conclude?
As all main characters converge at the laboratory, the Xenophage arrives and summons additional forces, prompting Knull to send more minions to capture the Codex. Acknowledging that Venom is ill-equipped to contend with so many foes (especially since they have been shown to be nearly invulnerable), Mulligan’s symbiote persuades several lab technicians to bond with other stored symbiotes for enhanced capabilities.
Major plot revelations ahead!
A full-scale war erupts between the Xenophages and the newly bonded symbiotes, aimed at preserving as many lives as possible and thwarting Knull’s acquisition of the Codex. This clash soon expands beyond the lab, engulfing the entire Area 51 facility, which includes the family who has infiltrated the site through an unsecured hole in the fence, despite the potentially dangerous secrets housed there.
The climactic moment for Knull’s minions occurs when Eddie is gravely injured. Realizing the necessity of his own sacrifice for the greater good, Venom chooses to give himself up to protect everyone, sealing Knull away on his prison planet. He uses the last of his power to heal Eddie once before disconnecting, merging with multiple Xenophages until he transforms into a terrifying hybrid of Xenophage and symbiote.
Directly addressing the wounded general, Venom instructs him to activate the hyperacid release mechanism, forcing the newly transformed Xenophage to position itself underneath while the acid erodes the combined entity of Venom and the monsters. In a final sequence, the general detonates a series of explosives, resulting in the destruction of himself, Venom, and the Xenophage menace.
The concluding scenes portray Eddie awakening in a medical facility, greeted by a military officer informing him that he has been cleared of the charge related to Sullivan’s murder, under the condition that he remains silent about what transpired at Area 51.
Eventually, Eddie arrives in New York City, with Venom: The Last Dance concluding on Brock gazing out at the Statue of Liberty—a sight his symbiotic companion had long desired to behold.
