Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Update Introduces Ultrawide Support for PC, Private Operations Lobbies, and Additional Features

Game developer Saber Interactive has been diligently working on ongoing enhancements for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 since its launch earlier this year, with a new patch recently deployed for the action-packed title, introducing a wealth of new features.

Additionally, players can now enjoy private lobbies for the PvE mode, Operations, offering the option to play solo with bots or with friends without entering public matchmaking.

New Features

  • Ultrawide support for PC
  • Private mode for Operations, allowing players to enjoy the mode solo with bots or alongside a friend without random matchmaking.
  • Introduced “What’s New”feature & “Message of the Day”
  • Added option to reset custom color presets

Gameplay and Balancing Tweaks

  • Improved responsiveness and comfort of the Social Wheel control using a mouse
  • Disabled unnecessary objects that previously did not require highlighting and had poor interaction
  • Fixed several minor bugs
  • Power Fist: Damage for fully charged attacks has been significantly increased
  • Heavy Plasma:
    • Base ammo increased by 5; blast damage radius expanded.
    • Overheat per shot reduced drastically from 50 to 30 for charged shots and from 20 to 15 for regular firing.
    • Base damage slightly increased by 10%.
  • Med Stims: Now restore contested health in addition to regular healing
  • Aux grenade launcher ammo: Can only be refilled from Ammo Boxes and cannot be replenished from the infinite Ammo Cache.

Campaign

Difficulty:

  • Enemy aggressiveness on Veteran Difficulty in the Campaign has been decreased for a more balanced single-player experience.
  • Player’s health on Veteran Difficulty has been slightly reduced to offset the AI aggressiveness and armor management updates.

Bots:

  • Numerous inhibiting restrictions have been lifted, enabling bots to be more helpful and effective without overshadowing the player.
  • Bots will assist in focusing fire on zoanthropes when the player attacks them.
  • Restrictions on bots finishing enemies have been eased to reduce player annoyance.
  • Bots can now assist with Gargoyle objectives.
  • A variety of bugs related to bots becoming stuck have been fixed.
  • Resolved a bug where bots could run out of ammo on weapons lacking a magazine.

Operations Mode

  • The AI Director and spawn rules for Chaos enemies in Operations have been adjusted:
    • Max number of Tzaangors with Shields reduced from 10 to 4.
    • Max number of Cultist Snipers reduced from 10 to 3.
    • Max number of Tzaangors reduced from 30 to 20.
    • Max number of Rubric Marines with Boltguns reduced from 8 to 5.
    • Max number of Rubric Marines with Warpflamers reduced from 4 to 3.
  • Perfect parry now restores armor for killing minoris, not only for countering special attacks.
  • A bug related to the perfect parry window for fencing weapons has been fixed, now providing a 20-frame window for perfect parries and 10 frames of vulnerability at the end of the animation.
  • Assault Class: Base ground pound damage increased by 30%.
  • Armor boost drops from destructible crates have been made less frequent (cooldown increased from 30 seconds to 60 seconds).

PVP

  • Improved player spawn system, reducing the likelihood of spawn killing.
  • Reworked Vanguard’s Grapnel Launcher in PVP; it now staggers enemies and significantly slows them instead of causing full stun.

AI

  • Reduced the ability of AI characters to stun lock enemies with ranged attacks.
  • Ranged enemies now have diminished accuracy when attacking players from off-screen and when engaging melee players.
  • Hormagaunts and Tzaangors: Melee damage now inflicts a specific amount instead of removing a complete armor segment per attack.
  • Zoanthrope:
    • Increased psychic scream damage wait time from 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds to prevent instant fatalities.
    • Psychic scream damage has been reduced from 11 to 8.
    • Effective range of psychic scream decreased from 50 to 40 meters.
    • Cast range of psychic scream reduced by 10 meters.
  • Termagant:
    • Fleshborer spray attack damage reduced from 1 to 0.5.
    • Fleshborer spray attack damage further reduced from 0.3 to 0.1.
  • Tyranid Warrior with Devourer: Projectile damage decreased from 0.9 to 0.6 per projectile.
  • Rubric Marine With Warpflamer:
    • Icon of flame damage reduced from 9 to 6.
    • Flamer burst damage reduced from 6 to 4 per shot.
    • Flamer shooting damage reduced from 6 to 4 per projectile.
    • Health decreased by 10%.
  • Rubric Marine with Boltgun:
    • Spray attack damage reduced from 1.5 to 1.
    • Damage from precise shot attacks (indicated by a red marker) reduced from 4 to 2 per projectile.
    • Reduced frequency of teleports used to disengage players, making them less problematic in combat. Health decreased by 10%.
  • Tzaangor With Shield: HP significantly reduced.
  • Butcher:
    • Rage phase updated; the carnifex becomes faster and more aggressive.
    • Taunt frequency reduced.
    • Fixed a bug where its cone of thorns attack wouldn’t release projectiles.
  • Hive Tyrant:
    • Health slightly increased.
    • Resistance to explosives and melta weapons increased by 20%.

Customization

  • Fixed icon colors for Administratum Grey, Auric Armour Gold, and Celestra Grey.
  • Addressed issues with incorrect default colors on some chapters (e.g., Iron Warriors).
  • Vanguard Relic Right Greave part now requires 29 victories instead of 36.
  • Added a color pattern called “Greaves Pattern,” allowing players to customize both the top and bottom halves of the legs independently.

Maps

  • Resolved several issues preventing players from progressing in specific levels.
  • Addressed numerous minor collision issues.
  • Tweaked dust storm density and duration in the Ballistic Engine operation.
  • Adjusted Heldrake fire timings on the bridge in the Reliquary operation.
  • Trials can now be accessed via the Hypnomat in the Armoury.

General Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where changing loadouts mid-operation restored health.
  • Improved the responsiveness of Jump Pack Ability.
  • Fixed several issues within Trials.
  • Resolved a bug where controls would occasionally stop responding after executing a finisher.
  • Fixed an issue where players did not receive armor data from Hellbrutes spawned from chaos portals.
  • Corrected a bug that caused Vanguard’s “Adrenaline Rush” perk description to display 1% instead of the accurate 10%.
  • Fixed UI spam from the announcer in Eternal War mode.
  • Addressed various methods of ammo duplication in Operations mode.
  • Fixed a bug where the Grapnel Launcher would cancel if overlapped by small geometry.
  • Fixed a bug where the Tactical perk EMPEROR’S VENGEANCE did not function with the Plasma Incinerator.
  • Corrected a bug allowing several weapons to restore more contested health than intended (e.g., Meltas, AoE weapons).
  • Resolved multiple issues that caused loss of save data.
  • Fixed an unidentified voice at the end of the story that was incorrectly assigned to a character.
  • Numerous minor UI improvements and fixes.
  • Numerous minor animation fixes and improvements.
  • Various localization updates.
